Markum watched the doors of the turbolift close with some animosity, and concern. He wouldn't let it show. After 31 years of service in Starfleet, the old sailor knew better than to show anything but confidence in times of crisis. He turned and sat down in the Command Chair and settled in. "Helm, keep us close enough to maintain transporter lock, coordinate with Ensign Cho. Let's show these bastards what real courage is made of....and give the Commander time to bring back the Skipper. We hold position, no matter the cost."

ON:

After the orders from Chief Quin a hush came over the Bridge, except for the usual mechanical and electronic noises.

Ens. Rhodes stood at the tactical console, confirming the operational status of each of the phaser arrays. He wanted to be ready if the time came to do more damage or defend themselves. He did not understand why sweat was running down the side of his face. It was not hot here on the Bridge.

Kiri didn't have time to think, there was too much to do already. To maintain a good lock and keep the tractor beam active for as long as possible they had be as close to the Klingon ship as they could. To her there would also be the bonus of limiting the enemy's field of fire, so her recommendations were already sent over to the con. She was frantic in action but calm in thought, there were problems in front of her she could solve. When all that was done, she could worry.

Down on Deck Three, Lamar stood guard over the armory and security offices, monitoring and directing any junior crew whom happened to pass his way. With the momentary break in combat, the chief had been able to finally assess the situation on a nearby LCARS wall panel. A quick check of the external sensors revealed the Klingon Bird of Prey still in close proximity, however her systems were badly damaged with multiple power fluctuations throughout the vessel. Several Federation life signs were aboard, and Lamar was hopeful that Captain Saalm was aboard the enemy ship, preferably unharmed. Galileo had fared slightly better this time around, yet there was still a slight haze of smoke in the air from an overloaded EPS conduit at the end of the corridor. Combined with the dark and reddish hue of the red alert sirens, the situation was tense, and he remained vigilant as he waited for any new developments.

Dea made a course change to help Kiri with her job. This type of flying was highly technical. It took skill an practice but experience had also taught Mialin that things were more complicated than that. She had to quickly make any adjustments to their flight path that were required.

Theron looked over to the command chair. He had heard confident words come from the Chief, but his body language seemed to tell a different story.

Quinn looked down at his hand, then back at the tactical display on the Command Chair. He then stood up and walked from station to station, taking the time to see and understand what each station was doing, and how its operator was holding up.

It seemed like it would work. Kiri wouldn't leave it at that but it let her feel slightly more easy, which in turn left a little more time for worry. The captain was gone, the First Officer was gone, the ranking officer was in Sickbay. A Klingon ship was barely a few meters away, disabled for now but how long would it last? Final checks done, Kiri would do her job, do her best to make sure they could get away and survive this. Still she joined the ship to look at stars and discover new things, not fight their way though nebulas and Klingons. While trained for this, she was pushing forwards blindly and she hated it.

Dea was busy monitoring things at her station. For the moment she had nothing better to do than sit there remaining vigilant. Of course it happened to also be the most difficult thing as well. Many times her job could easily be defined as hurry up then wait.

The Galileo was coming back around now. Theron knew it would be time to get their crew back. So many things could go wrong, but he tried to focus and remain calm. He just got confirmation from a repair teams that one of the port phaser arrays was now operational. Rhodes considered, 'They may have rebuilt one from the parts of several.'

At the moment Dea kept a close eye on all the activity. 'in and out, that's not always as easy as it sounds.' She reminded herself mentally.

As Theron monitored the tactical readings, he pondered the difference between Federation and Tandaran tactics. First of all the Tandarans would never have allowed themselves to get into this position. They would have not ventured out. Secondly, if they responded with the military, it would have been a entire fleet of ships to show strength and then return to their space. Theron understood that each philosophy had its own merit, but he knew at this moment, that this was his and was ready to destroy that vessel at the Captain's command.

Pacing up and down the long corridor with a rifle slung over his shoulder, Lamar waited patiently for the return of the away team. If his intuition was sound, which it usually was, he expected sickbay to have their hands full momentarily with at least one injured prisoner. Klingons did not treat their captives well, this much he knew from experience, and he knew the chances of recovering all of Galileo's captured personnel with no casualties was slim. Nevertheless, he prayed for their safe returns, and remained ready to jump into action the moment he was needed.

The tractor beam was modulated properly now, the nebula was cleared between the two ships as they drifted. While the Klingon hull made it hard, Kiri could get just enough resolution for a transporter lock, her part was done. Now she was able to switch back to watching the blurry scans of the nebula watching for what was waiting. There was no way of knowing that this was the only Klingon ship nearby, it might all be a trap. Once the XO was back on-board she'd feel happier, the entire situation would still be in negative digits though.
