Eelim couldn't sleep. He'd tried and after hours of tossing and turning he'd given up and found himself in the lounge of the Chaka. He settled with a drink by the windows on the little sofa and watched the stars. He wondered how Allyndra was doing. He'd tried to call on her a few times on the Klingon ship, the Romulan ship, and each time she'd been in the middle of something.

He found that without her he was quite sad. It had been a long time since the two of them were together.

They were finally headed back to Federation space and with it Allyndra could only think of going home. She needed the feel of the Twins, and the warm wind under her wings to just begin to face the universe again. She knew though there would be problems when they arrived. Inquires to be made and then when she got home, if she got home, the cares and problems of being house mother would be awaiting.

Responsibilities seemed to hem in from all sides it seemed. She made her way to get something very sweet to drink. She had been all but living on sugar water and it was taking a toll on her own health and mental well being.

She spotted Eelim and realized that she had not been able to see him for quite some time. Again all those responsibilities had kept her busy and more than busy.

"A trellium ribbon for your thoughts," she said as she came up behind him.

Eelim smiled warmly at the sound of her voice. He stood and pulled out a chair for her, "Join me?"

As she sat he took her hand and kissed it gently, "You look tired love."

"I am, way too much going on and it is not over." Allyndra replied. "Just thought we would be back to routine bumps and bruises and then have a full blown mutiney and almost another ship blown up around us. Medical stretched way to thin but then to see your face and fairly hale and hearty makes all the rest wash away. Here when I had a few minutes on board the Romulan ship I thought about you."

She looked around and quietly resang the little song she had then.

Eelim smiled, closing his eyes he listed to her sing. When she was finished he took her hand and kissed the palm and the back of her hand. "I've missed you so much." He sighed feeling relaxed for the first time ever. "That was a beautiful song. I wish I spoke your language."

"It is an old song. Ah well, I speak Akkadian, Federation and probably none of them as well as I should. The rest just seem to escape me. Well maybe when everything is over, I can teach you a little under the ring rise on Akkadia. Would you like that?"

He smiled. This ... chaos that they all went through had changed Eelim. Something in him changed and now his priorities were shifting. He looked at the woman who had his heart and began thanking every broken path that had led him here. "I would like that very much."

"It is warm and humid. Nothing but mostly tropical like vegetation, white sandy beaches, cool waves, few places even approaching a small town, basically boring to most," Allyndra teased just a little.

He smiled. "Cardassians love heat, and frankly", he said tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear, "Anywhere you are is not boring."

Allyndra made a small musical sounding chuckle. "Well as to the later, it might not be as fun. I am house mother to Warraquim. I can only imagine all the things that have piled up and that includes the Council. Responsibilities seem to hem in from all around." She took one of his hands and place it between her small breasts. "Know that I do love you, my hearts beat in happiness but my life is filled with demands. It is not fair to you so if you find another I shall understand."

He smiled. "You are worth waiting for. My heart beats for you too." He pulled her close and held her. "I will always wait my princess."

"Perhaps there will be time for us. I might even have a surprise in store."

Eelim smiled, "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you more." Eelim had been tormented by that fact. He'd felt horrible that he couldn't save her from pain and almost helpless and dysfunctional in that her wings got damaged. He felt like he'd failed as a mate.

"The circumstances were what the circumstances were. We both did our jobs, and as best as we could. Our duties were to our crew mates not to each other." She chuckled again. "See there is that thing called responsibility edging in again. Besides, for me, everything grows back. I shall be water dancing by the time I get home. Now hug me and let us just enjoy the touch for a moment while we can."

He smiled and held her close. Just having her in his arms made everything alright. He planted little butterfly kisses upon her head as it rested on his chest. Eelim experienced a contentment that he had not in years.

"Ahhhh........" Allyndra sighed. "How I would like to show you Kani'oui..."she said quietly not thinking.

Eelim smiled. "What is Kani'oui?" He said trying to imitate her accent but failing.

Allyndra was not thinking fully, for it was a place that the Federation or for that matter probably most of known space knew about. She answered, "Kaahh neee 'oooohuuueee, the mist ring. It is an interesting place, a place where a planet has had it's atmosphere stripped away and now lies as a big ring around the star. The middle is sufficiently thick enough that one can breath. There is no land, no ocean, just floating vegetation. No gravity, a place one does not need wings to soar across vast distances though they help."

He smiled, "Sounds like heaven." He tipped her chin up and gently kissed her lips. "I would follow you to the ends of the universe my precious princess. There is something I should say to you Allyndra."

"What is that?" Allyndra asked. She was starting to think a bit more and realized she had divulged a place that no one besides a few ancient texts had described.

Eelim chuckled, "I said I would follow you to the ends of the universe, this....Kaahh neee 'oooohuuueee place," he said trying to imitate the accent, "Sounds fun. Now before I forget I have something for you. I made it while we were at Krenus."

"Oh?"

Eelim pulled out a small box. It had taken him a week but when he saw the stone at the mine he thought of Allyndra. He'd used the scrap tritanium to make a mold around the stone and a pendant hook. It was a dark blue stone with white flakes that looked like starts in the night sky. He handed her the box waiting for her to open in.

"Oh my! It is beautiful!" Allyndra remarked as she opened the box and saw the stone. "You would definitely be illm Pa'enoa, the artist Guild. She leaned forward and gave him a kiss. It was quick, displays of affection in the open were not something Akkadians usually did but there were exceptions and this was one of those.

Eelim smiled, happy that she liked his gift. "I wish I could see you planet. It must be beautiful."

"I would love to show it to you," Allyndra replied. She sighed, "I just do not know what is going to happen at this point but trust me I need to be away from the Federation for a bit." She finally got her thoughts together and then said, "Please do not mention Kani'oui to anyone, not even if you get to my world."

Eelim gave a nod and kissed her hand, "It will always be between us my princess." Eelim studied her. "You look tired my dove. Why do you not try and get some rest?" He didn't want her to leave but her health was more important.

"No, well yes I am tired, we all are but these times like these are far too rare to let them go for sake of minute more of sleep. Let us just delight in each other's company for what time is given us before demands come calling all too soon." Allyndra replied and then reached over and just held his hand and sipped at her drink. It was a simple thing, no words, just a touch, a look and a feeling of pushing the rest of the galaxy away for a bit.

Eelim smiled as he held her hand. There were times like this that were just stolen moments in time. He talked to her mostly about happy things. Inside he knew that their time was short for now but once they got to Earth he would not leave her side if he could help it. He meant it when he said he would follow her to the ends of the Earth.

Allyndra listened and just enjoyed the few moments before her comm badge went off. She sighed, "Did I not say, all too soon?"

He smiled. "Before you go...I must tell you something."

"Yes a'ioah?"

"Allyndra....I..."

"A'oiah o'ea wa? I love you?"

He smiled, "Yes, I want you to know that I love you," He said. He didn't expect her to say it back. He just wanted her to know.

"Well then you practice that and I shall be happy to teach to the full meaning if possible." Her badge beeped again and she shook her head. "Have to run A'oiah."

Eelim smiled, he took her hand and gently kissed her palm. "I will be waiting when until we can be together my Princess." He watched her go feeling both sad to see her go and happy that they'd had some time together.
