Mission: Episode 12 - Recluse
Location: USS Galileo - Crew Quarters 03-2207 JO
Timeline: MD 01 1600 hours

ON:

Splendora was resting tonight. She made herself a hot chocolate with two shots of peppermint and settled in with a good book. Tuula had told her she'd be gone for the night, although she didn't know where she was but she figured she was out with friends.

She was interrupted by the familiar whooshing sound of the door opening and the sound of Tuula's chair. Not even looking up from the book, she heard Tuula sigh and the sound of some article of clothing being thrown onto the couch. "Oh." Tuula leaned over and looked towards Splendora. "Is that hot chocolate? I think I could use some after this night."

Splendora smiled and closed her book. She got up and headed to the replicator. "Do you like peppermint hot chocolate?" She turned to see Tuula's outfit and dearly dropped her own cup. "WOW. Where were you?" She said smiling.

"Oh. This old thing..." Tuula looked down at the leather straps criss-crossing her torso, then back up at Splendora. "I was trying to get someone's attention," she replied, rolling towards the replicator. "Didn't work."

Splendora smiled. "Well that's really a hot outfit. The guy or girl you were trying to get the attention from is lucky. Now tell me why didn't it work. What happened?"

"Oh, you know how it is," started Tuula in a casual tone. "Girl loves guy. Guy doesn't notice. Girl dresses up in bondage gear and sneaks into his quarters for a night of sweet, sweet passion and a little BDSM. Guy turns out to be in love with other girl." She looked over at the replicator. "Is that peppermint?"

Splendora ordered two more mugs with whipped cream and cherries. She brought one to Tuula and sat on the sofa across from Tuula. "Ahhh okay. I get it." She laughed. "It was a good plan though but the in love with another girl part sucks. So who's this mysterious guy you've been crushing on?" She smiled.

"Have you met Eelim?" Tuula took a sip of her tea and placed the mug on the coffee table. "He's the cute Cardassian down in security."

"Ahhh yes the man that is ga ga over the CMO. Met him. He really is in love with her. That I can tell you and trust me girly. You got nothing wrong with you even though you seem to think that you do."

"You really think so?" asked Tuula, as she began unlocking her collar to remove it. "Because every time I dress up in bondage gear and try to surprise a guy, they always reject me, like they're scared or something."

Splendora laughed. "Okay most guys can't handle the rough stuff." She rolled her eyes. "Trust me on that and the other thing is that maybe you tend to go for men who are unavailable. The other guy, before Eelim... why did he not respond?"

"He was my boss in sickbay. Dr. Olsam Mott. A Bolian. You know what they say, once you go blue, pink just won't do." Tuula let out a little giggle. "He... I don't know if he was even capable of love."

She sighed. "Okay hun. I'm a counselor so sue me here but I've only lived with you a few days and I can see that you seem to hold your chair against you. You expect people to reject you and maybe some do but sometimes we go for the hurt. See look at it this way. You expect people to reject you cause of the chair but you know, deep down, you know that it has nothing to do with the chair. Maybe there is a fear o being vulnerable a fear of seeing yourself for the wonderful, kind, and beautiful person that you are because all these years you've let rejection define you. So you go after emotionally or physically unavailable men and then you get rejected and then they prove you right or it seems like it in your mind but really they are not rejecting you it's their hang ups or their love for someone else that causes the rejection."

"Okay, I didn't ask for some psychoanalysis from Ms. Freud," shot back Tuula as she tossed her collar aside and began working on removing her leather cuffs. "I just have bad luck with men. Eelim, Olsam... my horrible, abusive ex from before the academy..."

Splendora sighed. "It's not what I'm trying to do Tuula. I'm trying to just point out that you deserve better. I think that maybe you need to realize how special you are and just go for men who will cherish you not hurt you." She really wanted to help. She liked Tuula.

"A good man is hard to find," countered Tuula as she struggled with the clasp on her cuffs. "Especially when for some unknown reason, people seem to be afraid of you."

Splendora laughed. "It's not fear...you've built walls around yourself." She noted Tuula's struggle. "Can I help with the cuffs?"

"No, I think I got it," she replied as she finally loosened her right cuff. "You know, the shrink on my last assignment said the same thing. I think he just couldn't get past the tattoos and the hair." She took a sip of her hot chocolate. "Of course, neither could my mother."

She smiled. "Okay I've met Eelim. He's a big tattoo guy too so it's not the tattoos and your hair is fine. Ah yes... mothers do tend to be harsh on daughters, especially if they have a different taste." She looked at Tuula. "Are you going to be okay Roomie?"

"I suppose..." She took a deep breath, but still couldn't get Eelim out of her head. "Good thing I did well in cardiology at the academy..."

"Why Cardiology?" Splendora asked sipping her hot chocolate.

Tuula tilted her hot chocolate back, finishing the remainder of it in one gulp. "To mend an aching heart."

Splendora smiled. "Aww come on Roomie. Why don't we do something fun to get you mind off of what happened?"

"Hmmmm, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" asked Tuula, a coy look appearing on her face as she rolled towards a cabinet underneath her display of 19th century surgical tools.

Splendora laughed. "Not sure what are you thinking?"

Excitedly, Tuula pulled out a bottle of green liquid and held it aloft. "Absinthe cocktails!"

"Sure! Why not!" Splendora was happy that she lucked out. She figured she had the fun and best roomie on the ship. "You pour I'll get dessert. What do you want?"

"At a time like this, is there any question?" replied Tuula. "Chocolate strawberry cheesecake!" She placed a finger on her chin for a moment. "Low fat though, I'm watching my figure. Oh, and a couple champagne flutes..."

"Right well at a time like this low fat replicator setting is broken." She grinned and retrieved a large cake cutting it in half. "Half for you and half for me!"

"Yay!" exclaimed Tuula, uncorking the bottle. Absinthe and cheesecake wasn't what she was expecting when she first put on the leather harness, but maybe tonight wouldn't be a total loss after all...
