Eelim walked into the Brig area and saw Greg at the desk. "Hi Mitchell!"

Greg, who had his feet up on the desk as he read a report on a PADD quickly stood at attention and smiled. "Lieutenant, good to see you up and about. How are you feeling, sir?"

Eelim smiled. "Better and better everyday. I hate being on light duty though. What did I miss while I was gone?"

Greg laughed. "Yah, well, little miss sunshine here ranted some radical bull before I increased the force field and blocked out the sound from in there. Other than pacing and yelling, she hasn't really been too much of an issue for me. Other than that, we've had a few minor calls here and there. Mostly domestics. All settled without any issues."

He stood up. "Being temporarily put in charge of security and investigations until you got back on your feet and Commander Wyatt took over was taxing. I'm glad to be back in my "just do as I'm ordered" position." Greg motioned to the cell. "Do you want to talk to her?"

He smiled. "Yeah." He walked up to the field "Can you reduce the force field so she can talk back?" He asked Mitchell.

"No problem, sir. Good luck." He tapped the console to reduce the force field, "She doesn't know when to shut up."

Nelis glared at Eelim. "So, you're alive."

Eelim smiled. "I am. How are you doing? Do you need anything?"

Nelis' mouth dropped open. She looked at Greg with a look that said 'is he for real?'

Eelim sighed and over to the force filed. "Why Nelis?"

"You're Cardassian! The son of Gul Galan."

Eelim sighed. He'd just gotten the news and hadn't told anyone yet. He wanted to speak with a counselor about it but... "I am not."

Nelis looked up at him. "What?"

"I was raised by Galan but thanks to a Bajoran friend of mine and some DNA testing I found out that he is not my father. He raised me until I was 16 but biologically...."

Nelis looked confused. She didn't know why it mattered but she asked. "So who is your father?"

"Galan's wife is my mother, Gul Derat is my father."

Nelis sat down hard on the floor in an almost swoon.

Eelim jumped. "Greg open the cell. Please get some water!"

Greg sighed, "Yes sir," he replied. Taking his legs off the table again and setting down his PADD, Greg walked over to the replicator. What the hell, am I the butler to the terrorist now?

"Water." Greg ordered. A shimmer of light made a glass of water appear and he took it over to the Lieutenant. "Here you go, sir."

Eelim smiled at the man. He gave Nelis the water and then spend a few moments talking with her. He then got up and left the cell nodding to Greg to put up the force field.

"Eelim I'm sorry." Nelis said.

He gave a nod. "I know. Be well Nelis." He walked over to Greg. Perhaps his withdrawal from the crew, his fear of reaching out and making friends was a partial cause of what happened with Nelis. If people saw him as scary and not wanting to make friends they might hate him but he was only withdrawn because he didn't want him being a Cardassian to cause any problems for them. He looked again at Greg. "Greg you can call me Eelim...I know I haven't spoke much to the staff but...would you consider a drink and a game of chess sometime?"

Greg looked at the Lieutenant. He wasn't used to referring to any commanding officer as anything but sir or ma'am. He was also not used to being liked by other crew, due to his straight to the point personality. But he was happy to help someone else feel normal, feel happy. So he smiled and responded: "Aye si...aye Eelim. Any time you want."

He smiled. "Wonderful." He was about to walk away when something popped in his mind. He noted that Greg himself seemed an outsider. "I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable with my offer. I'm not ....used to making friends. Usually people avoid me. So if I over stepped."

Greg smiled again. "Not at all. Obviously it's going to take some getting used to, referring to an officer as something other than his or her rank, but you are perfectly fine. Any time you want, let me know."

Eelim smiled. "Wonderful!" He looked at the man. "And thank you for all you did. I heard that you were the one who figured out Nelis was guilty first. You're good at what you do Greg. I'm glad to work with you."

Greg smiled and looked over at Nelis, "It was a team effort. My officers were a big help as well. But thank you, I'm glad to work with you as well."

Eelim smiled. "So I guess I'll let you get back to it."

"Aye sir," Greg said, partially jokingly. As the Lieutenant left, Greg sathought back down at the desk and picked up the report PADD again. Before he read, he hovered his hand over the force field enhancement button like he had done before to block out the noise from the cell and the Petty Officer's ranting. He hesitated and glanced over at the tired and defeated look on Nelis' face.

For the first time since he put her there, he had sympathy for her. She wasn't going to rant anymore. Yah...she's done , he said to himself. He brought his hand away from the button and went back to reading the report, leaving the force field at the normal setting.
