After her bridge tour and checking in with Veri, Allyndra noted that there was not a whole lot on the agenda which would be nice and Tuula was willing to come in a bit early so Allyndra could have a bit extra time. The man event for this morning was another checkin for the new crew that had been transferred. She picked up the PaDD and perused it while in her office and waited for the man to arrive.

It wasn't long before the doors to sickbay opened and Jonas strolled in, looking forward to both his required exam and to actually meeting the Chief Medical Officer. They had exchanged pleasantries briefly when he had beamed aboard, but this was going to be the first chance they'd actually have to sit down and talk. Besides the possibility of making a new friend, the counselor had been very impressed with Warraquim's service record and training. He had the feeling he would have a lot to learn from her as they served together. Noticing the entrance to what was most likely the doctor's office, Jonas made his way over while calling out, "Good morning! Lieutenant Flynn, reporting as ordered."

"Come on in," Allyndra said. "There is a replicator if you want anything."

Taking her up on the offer, Jonas headed in that direction. "Thank you, Dr. Warraquim," he acknowledged, before ordering for a peach green tea lemonade. He waited as the drink materialized, then turned to face his host.

She waited and indicated the extra chair for him to take a seat. "Right on time. I like prompt. Anyway, Allyndra if you do not mind. I do not like rank unless it is absolutely necessary. Call it a rule of my sickbay." She smiled. "May I call you Jonas?"

Jonas returned the smile. "Of course, Allyndra. I have a similar policy myself." He drank deeply and leaned back a bit in his chair, appreciative of the relaxed atmosphere between them. "Anywhere in particular you'd like to begin?"

"How about you tell me a bit about yourself. I am curious being a former Counselor myself what lead you into the field. Any background you wish to share. I have patients that come through that need psychological fixing as well and medical so building a relationship is important."

Nodding, Jonas began to construct a summarized answer, searching out the best place to start. "I was born and raised on my parent's ship, a civilian freighter. I was surprisingly social for one brought up in such a relatively isolated environment, and though I pitched in to help where I could, I never really took to any of the technical jobs. The closest I ever came to be useful was first with our medic, where I'd kind of just assist in any way needed, and then when it came to interacting with passengers and eventually clients. What can I say? I'm just a people person."

He took another sip of his tea. "Never really thought I'd end up in Starfleet, but when I arrived at the Academy a bit later than the traditional cadet I found I had an interest and aptitude for psychology. It was a solid fit, and has proven to be a an interesting and... well, stimulating career path. Never a dull moment." He lifted the glass again, but quickly added, "Other than all of the documentation, I mean."

"Charts and records, yes the ban of our existence. Well sir, if you are ready we can adjourn to sick bay proper and get the scan and DNA sample."

"Sure!" he said, standing up and following her out into the adjacent room. "How about you? Why medicine?"

"Why? It is one thing Akkadians are good at." She replied heading toward biobed three. "There was a time when we had quite a bit more technology but that technology caused us as a species tragedy. We rid ourselves of most but the one thing that we kept was the technology and interest to heal. I started in Counseling as well before shifting into just medical."

"I can't say I've ever met an Akkadian before," Jonas commented as he hopped onto the bed and sat with his feet dangling off of the side. "Are there many of your people in Starfleet? Or active outside of your homeworld?"

"Two in Fleet and one at the diplomatic outreach on Earth. We are a stay at home people."

"I see," the counselor cocked his head slightly as he considered her answer, despite trying to stay still for whatever scans she had to run. "Have you enjoyed your time in the Fleet, or do you miss your home? Not that the two are mutually exclusive."

"When I am away I miss the wide open skies, the feel of the Twins.....that is what we call the binary suns, and breeze on the wings. When I am there I find that I miss the stars." She made a note or two. "So I try to balance both needs."

Jonas grinned. "That's certainly a healthy approach." His expression grew wistful as he continued. "You know, there are times I envy those of you with actual homeworlds. I mean, I know that technically Earth is my homeworld, but I was born in space and have lived there most of my life. I'd like to have that... I don't know, feeling, or maybe sense of reassurance and peace of mind I've seen in others when they stand beneath their native sky."

"There is nothing like it, yes, but it always reminds me that eventually all worlds are doomed. One day even the Twins will die and with it my world. Perhaps, having that less of a tie to a firm place in the end is better."

It was a somber thought, and Jonas had never really thought of it from that perspective. Though not adverse to deep reflection, he decided to lighten the mood a bit. "Perhaps. But how about my immediate world? Am I doomed as well, or do I appear fit to live another day or so?"

"Well shall we find out?" Allyndra brightened immediately. "You can put your drink down there and lay back. I find it makes it easier for me to get a proper reading. Any concerns, anything new that I should be aware of? A specific medical history that I should know without having to dig into your medical file?"

Doing as he was instructed, Jonas set aside the drink and stretched himself out. "Nothing drastic - a broken wrist and dislocated knee when I was younger. Can't really remember the last time I felt ill... maybe a year ago? Some kind of cold I couldn't shake. There was a lot of sneezing."

"Noted. Alright, while I get the scan. I know we talked quite a bit earlier but anything else I can answer, or you have questions about. I will try my best, though I admit my grasp of gravity on the quantum level is pretty thin." Allyndra chuckled with that musical quality. "Otherwise we can just get the DNA sample."

Jonas chewed his lip as he considered the doctor's offer. He was certain he had several questions, but like most others he knew, his mind instantly went blank when given the chance to ask. "Can't seem to think of anything, though I know I'll have ten different questions pop up the second I leave sick bay. I guess just scan away, though by all means feel free to ask any questions you might have."

Allyndra smilled and nodded. "I know the feeling, sometimes with all the newness the mind gets all tied up. Well I think we are good to go, and your are officially checked in, however, feel free if and when to stop by and ask."

"I appreciate that, Allyndra," Jonas said, returning the smile while standing. "The same goes for me, my door is always open. Well, not always, it is shut during sessions... but, you get the idea." He laughed at his own rambling, retrieved what was left of his flavored green tea lemonade, and made for the exit with a friendly wave. "See you around!"

"Very good. See you around," she replied
