Previously, on Scheme (Part 2)...

"We wait," the boy replied quietly, watching the older Wyatt from the corner of his eyes. "Nothing much else we can do," he added as he approached a console and marveled at readings of stellar winds. "Seems there's a storm brewing..." he murmured, more to himself than anyone else.

...Meanwhile, though all the hustle and bustle, through the many crewmen entering and the situation within the geology lab escalating rapidly, the completely inept Terran security guard stationed near it was completely oblivious to the situation within. Just how could he be so clueless to what was happening? Either he was suffering severe sensory deprivation by way of powerful narcotics or perhaps he was actually sympathetic to the Starfleet personnel's plight...

And Now, the Conclusion...

Deck 4, Mercy's Quarters

Unable to do much, Naois had just been lying on his bed. He was in extreme pain and even the slightest movement sent jolts of pain through his body. His mental barriers were shattered, and he was no longer able to keep any of his feelings inside. His control had been broken during his session with his interrogators. His ruined right hand lay across his abdomen and though his fingers were still recognizable to a degree, they had all been broken, his hand shattered and bloody. It wasn't the only damage he'd sustained but it was the worst. Breathing was agony which told him he'd broken a rib or two as well.

He opened his eyes when he thought he heard something. "Mercy," he responded weakly, not knowing what he was responding to. "Zeta Ksi five five two," he added automatically, having repeated his identification code several times by now during his session. "Serial number Echo Omega 390-3417..."

The channel crackled slightly and Lirha's voice began to transmit in a subdued manner. "...Saalm here. What is your status, doctor?" she asked, hoping he was available to treat some of the injured that had been calling in.

"Bad," the counsellor replied in a whisper, "no condition to help. Need medical ass-" The Vulcan passed out again as he seemed to drift in and out of consciousness.

Lirha couldn't understand the last few words of his communication because they seemed to suddenly cut out. It could have been possible comm interference or something more severe. "...Doctor? Repeat your last transmission..."

Roused by the static of his commbadge, Naois repeated his name and serial number again like he had several times in the past few hours before realizing that he was speaking to the CO. "Badly injured," he managed, "losing consciousness periodically. May not respond again...."

"I understand..," she replied, "Stand by...I will attempt to help. Saalm out." Lirha didn't want to revel her movement, but as soon as she got off the comm link, she began to crawl swiftly towards the nearest vertical junction. If she remembered correctly, the lieutenant's quarters were on Deck 4 which was only three levels above her. She estimated it would take her about ten minutes to get there, provided she moved quickly and quietly.

Deck 4 - Jefferies Tube near Mercy's Quarters

With Jaana safely in the hands of another officer, Eva now found herself sitting in a Jefferies tube just outside of her quarters. She couldn't explain the urge to return to quarters but she'd felt Naois' pain echo through her head like a bad feeling. Worried for her mate, she opened the hatch and glanced both ways. Corridor empty, she quickly made her way to Naois' quarters.

Silently keying in her code, Eva slipped inside quarters, her eyes adjusting to the darkness. She knew he was here somehow but she wasn't prepared for what she saw when she entered their bedroom. The shock of seeing Naois lying on the bed, covered in blood was enough to send Eva to tears. Rushing to the bed she knelt beside him, afraid to touch him for fear of hurting him further. She could feel the waves of pain now as she knelt beside him. "Naois? Can you hear me?" she choked out.

"Mercy, Echo Omega 390-3417," was the weak response. The injured counsellor didn't seem to recognize his own wife, his swollen eyes remained closed since he was unable to even open them. His nose was swollen, a freaky shade of green/black and covered with dried blood. Tears streamed from the corner of his eyes, stinging the open wounds on his face. His breath came in ragged gasps, as if he was having trouble breathing. The emotions rolling off of him in waves mostly registered as a sense of loss, and extreme pain.

"What did they do to you?" she asked, not really expecting a reply from him. She wasn't a nurse but like most crew, had enough basic medical training, and picked up a few things along the way, to tend to the basics. Grabbing a kit from where she kept it on in her bedstand, Eva pulled out the tools she knew how to operate. Without a medical tridcorder, she could only tend to the superficial wounds but a dermal regenerator and an analgesic she knew was safe for Naois would at least help.

As she ran the regenerator across his face, tending to the bruising and cuts she could see, Eva glanced down at Naois' mangled hand. She wasn't going to touch it, she knew a bad injury when she saw one. Going back to his face, Eva noticed Naois' breathing settling as the pain lessened.

"E-eva..." The single word was a bare whisper but through the prolonged gentle touches he had finally sensed his wife. "N-need inh-hibitor. C-cont-trol...g-gone." His words came in stutters as he struggled to speak, trying to tell her he had no control. "N-need h-help."

"Lay still Naois." Eva told him, "I know your barriers are down." She gently stroked his face, careful to avoid the injured areas. "I gave you something for the pain. I'm going to give you something to relax a bit okay?" Eva noted as she pressed a hypospray against his neck. "That should help till we can get you to sickbay."

"Thank you..." The answer was very weak. "I am sorry Eva, I cannot remain awake. Do not be alarmed..."

"I know Naois. I'll stay here beside you. I'm not leaving you."

The door to the counselor's quarters quickly swished open and Lirha's green face peered into the room while quickly looking back towards the hallway she was covertly traversing.

With a quick slidestep, she entered the living room and stood against the wall to allow the door to shut with the hope that no one had seen her enter. Her trip through the Jeffries tubes had been long and cumbersome, ans she hoped the man was still alive.

Deck 7 - Lounge

Having waited with baited breath for a while, Doyle decided to try on the comms again. "Doyle, Bar Wine Vodka 1 4 7. I don't have a code like everyone else, but I am equally as trapped," he whispered into a relay, "I would appreciate if anyone is out there to come and help...please."

Lirha's voice answered back after a short moment of silence, albeit very quietly in a hushed tone. "...Do you have access to a weapon, Mister Doyle?" she asked.

A hatch behind the bar opened, and a young Human in engineer's colours tumbled out. His face was bloodied, his uniform torn in various places yet he seemed somewhat cheerful when he smiled as he sprawled at the barman's feet. "Hello," Rheneas greeted softly, while staring up at the man.

Deck 4, Jeffries Tube Junction

With her hair now disheveled and loose dark locks of it stuck to her sweaty forehead and cheeks, Lirha opened the Jeffries tube hatch which finally put her on Deck 4. She paused for a brief moment to regain her breath and checked the three different satchels she had strung across her body. One was a medkit, the other an engineering kit, and the third was a tactical kit -- all of which she'd acquired from emergency lockers in the conduits while she was journeying upwards in the vessel.

Most importantly, they were heavy and cumbersome, and it had taken her an additional five minutes to reach her desired destination. Now, she slowly panted and sucked in air while giving herself a brief break before continuing.

Her ears picked up a strange sound, barely audible, and she instinctively reached for her phaser and pulled it from her holster. Her green eyes searched the dark maintenance tube in front of her, and she prepared to fire on what she assumed was one of the many intruders aboard the vessel.
