Mission: Episode 09 - Empires
Location: ShuttleBay, USS Galileo
Timeline: MD 07 - 1300

ON:
Abbey, with her phase rifle raised, walked alongside the sergeant she was assigned to to do a internal visual sweep of the USS Galileo. It was much smaller in size to the one she was used to and it lacked in military might and hell it seemed pretty useless to her but something about the ship picked at her and prodded at her. "Sir, How long are going to keep patrolling the ship like drones?" She asked bored now, they had only encountered small pockets of resistance which had mostly been stamped out with of course the usual iron fist the Terran Empire served with, it made her sick.

"Until we find and kill the last few crewman of this pathetic crew, the manifest shows were missing a handful of them and until then we keep looking!" He snapped coming up to a shuttle which unlike the rest were shut.

Abbey closed her eyes wishing she was anywhere but with this particular person, others tolerated her and her ideals but Sergeant Gaynor showed a particular interest in showing her how much he disliked her.

Hearing footsteps enter the shuttlebay, Wintrow made himself as small as possible underneath the forward console inside one of the shuttles. He knew that he was hidden well enough and that it'd take special care to find him, but it was a cramped space and he lost track of how long he'd been here. As he sensed someone approaching, he held his breath and closed his eyes. If they found him, he didn't really want to see who did.

Moving her way to an exterior access panel Abbey nodded "Open the door Corporal" Gaynor said pointing his rifle to the hatch and doing as ordered she accessed the hatch controls and the door began to open. "Sir, there's probably no one in..." her eyes widened and she stepped back and behind the Sergeant as the interior was shown and the silhouette of Sgt Gaynor's next victim became more and more obvious.

The young pilot stiffened as the shuttle's hatch was opened and apparently he wasn't as hidden as he thought he'd be. He held his breath, kept his eyes shut and waited, his heart hammering in his throat as he sat frozen in fear.

"WHY YOU LITTLE WEASEL!" He shouted walking into the shuttle and brining out a person about the same build and height as Abbey. "Well what do we have here!" Gaynor asked demandingly.

Wintrow cried out as he was roughly yanked outside, batting his hand at the ones that roughly held him by the arm. "Let me go," he pleaded, "please...I know nothing, I am nothing...I'm just a pilot. Please."

Abbey watched puzzled at the man, he was younger than her but had dazzling blue eyes and curly blond locks. "Sir he's frightened" She challenged trying to calm the situation down so there wasn't yet another dead crewman.

"I should just kill him now and put him out of his misery!" Gaynor said raising his rifle and setting in motion a number of events the first being a hot beam of kinetic energy as phaser hit flesh and the smell of burning flesh ignited the air.

Fully expecting the blast to hit him, Wintrow stood frozen with his eyes wrenched shut. Then, as the smell of roasted and burnt meat reached his nostrils and he gagged, falling to his knees as the hurtful grip on his arms suddenly was gone. "Please," he begged, "please don't hurt me..." Survival mode was kicking in, and not being a fighter, all Wintrow knew to do, was beg for his life. Beg, like he'd done for years. Like he'd done only weeks ago... "Please," he whispered softly, weakly.

Abbey stood frozen the rifle dropping to the floor as the body of Sergeant gaynor drooped to the floor and the cries and whimpers of the man echoed in the shuttle bay "What... What have I done, they'll kill me for this" She said stepping back and hitting the wall behind her.

Swallowing, the boy looked up and saw a girl slide down the wall. "Miss Abbey?" he whispered, recognizing Lieutenant Wyatt's daughter, "what are you doing here? Why were you with him?" Drawing on all the reserves he could muster, he crawled over to her on hands and legs that felt like rubber. "If you shot him...you saved my life Miss Abbey....he was going to kill me for sure." His voice trembled as he spoke, his face ashen as he studied her. There was something about her that didn't fit, and his senses were screaming red alert. "Y-you're not Miss Abbey," he suddenly said, and made to scramble away from her. "W-who are y-you."

"I am!" She said clasping a hand over her mouth. What was she saying? "I mean... I'm not here to hurt you!" She reassured bot unsure whether that if it was directed to him or her, she could kill the young man and say he was the one to kill Gaynor. "I should kill you" She said pointedly.

"No..." Wintrow didn't wait for her to retrieve her rifle. He did the only thing he was capable of now, and that was scramble to his feet and run. But, where was he to go? He stopped briefly, then broke into a run a second time.

Lunging into action Abbey gave chase jumping over and beyond the rifle on the floor as she began to gain on the man. "STOP" She shouted decreasing the distance between them now only few meters, she watched as he stopped and took of in another direction which was a what she needed to gain on him that last bit before leaping and reaching out to grab any part of the man.

The pilot was jerked to a halt as the woman grabbed him. "Let me go," he cried out, trying to yank himself free. She was strong, physically stronger than him. It made him regret not paying more attention to self defense and working out even more than he already did. In his attempt to break free, he lost his balance and fell.

Abbey under motion was pulled down on top of the man, the air escaping from her lungs she let out a grunt as she hit the soft harshness of another body. Pushing up of him and starring down into the mans face she straddled his waist as she raised her fist to punch him square in the face. "Why did you run!" She screamed punching down hard on the metal just scraping his ear before rolling of breathing heavily. "Oh god what have I done... They'll kill me for this" she said hands covering her face.

So sure he was going to be the one to be punched, Wintrow just wrenched his eyes shut. "You said you were going to kill me," he breathed, his ear ringing from the semi-punch. He sat up, staring at her in surprise. "You're not from this ship, you're with those that captured us....why would they kill you..."

She gave a choked laugh! "You're weak and dumb! I should have said were both going to die" she sat up thinking what needed to be done. "Right comprise yourself Abbey," she said speaking to herself before turning to wintrow. "you're right I'm Terran empire Abbey your Abbey the somewhat brave but stupid bitch is dead, I killed her just so there's no surprises along the way" she said simply her breathing and the training the Terran empire had given her taking over "we need to hide the body, is there an access tunnel we can drop it in?" She asked.

THe hybrid's eyes sparkled with something akin to fury. "Call me dumb again, and I will kill you instead," he hissed, "and you can stuff the body in the shuttle. Who's gonna look there? Yes we need to hide, because you don't want to be found with a non-Human. I'm not Human...surely you knew that?" Though terrified, and his voice was shaking, he put on a brave face now and he did sound a little taunting. "Why did you kill our Abbey, if Lieutenant Wyatt finds out, he'll sure kill you." He scrambled for the fallen rifle, though he had no idea how to fire one. This wasn't any rifle he had trained with. "Or maybe I should."

Abbey moved into motion kicking the rifle away with her free leg and attempting to gain control of the apparent non-human by pushing off her hips and landing a head blow to the mans face with a crunch. "That's more like it, maybe I should keep calling you dumb and well have a chance of surviving! As for your Abbey she... I put her out of her misery she didn't deserved what she had and well I drove that blade quickly humanly as possible. She probably didn't even feel a thing" she said trying to hold the man. "Now... I'm going to let you go. I won't kill you you won't kill me and then we'll talk about any misgivings but right now I'm your best hope especially with the sergeant over there dead" she mused with a smile "I never liked him anyway"

Blood poored from the teenager's nose and he reeled from the blow. He felt sick, as he unwantedly swallowed blood as well. He simply nodded while trying to staunch the bleeding. "Shuttle," he said again, but made no move to help her.

She shook her head standing up as blood also dripped from her nose, she was never to fond of a head blow but she panicked. "Great now I've broken you" She said grabbing hold of the recently deceased Sergeants legs and began to pull into the shuttle."ARE YOU JUST GOING TO SIT THERE!" she shouted the body half in the shuttle.

"You killed him, it's your mess," Wintrow responded coldly as he bowed his head a little, "and I feel sick. I'm not broken... Does that weapon of yours not have a disintergrate setting? You could just vaporize him you know..."

Abbey turned to look at the weapon and back to the young man "He would have killed you if I hadn't of done it, maybe I should have just let him then I wouldn't have to be here explaining this to you!" She swiped up the rifle and set it to max setting before aiming and blasting the body of what used to be sergeant Gaynor causing it to immediately disintegrate. Closing the shuttle door and slinging the rifle she strolled back over "So you already know my name, what's yours?" She asked giving him her hand to help himself up of the floor. She'd be impressed if he lasted ten minutes from now.

Taking the offered hand, Wintrow pulled himself up and staggered. "Wintrow," he replied, though with his nose stuffed with blood it more sounded like 'windrow'. "I'm a pilot." Yet his uniform was not like that of commissioned officers or even the NCO's.

Musing over the information she considered taking a shuttle and running, "We can't fly out of here, not yet luckily with me we can move around freely, well ill be free and you'll be my prisoner" She smiled, "Do you know where if anywhere people would likely be hiding?" She asked.

Not sure whether he could trust her, she was still part of the enemy, Wintrow didn't really get more alarming vibes from her. Further more, she could've killed him, in several instances now, but hadn't. So, the boy nodded slowly, his head swimming as he did so. "Yes," he answered softly, "I've heard something..." But he wasn't going to literally tell her, that would be dumb.

"You heard something? Care to maybe share to the rest of us?" She teased, though he seemed weak he wasn't stupid by any means. "How can I trust you?" She asked, the risk she was taking to full fill the dyeing wishes of her counter part could see dead and even worst tortured exactly like her other was though she knew Lamar would take extreme pleasure in doing so.

"You can't," he answered honestly, "because I can't trust you either. I know where to go, but I can't tell you. Yes, we can make it look as if you captured me, but under no circumstance will I allow you to lead me to it at gunpoint. When we get there, you give me your weapon."

Abbey thought about what he had just said "Take my weapons, so you can kill me? I'm not that stupid" She could so easily kill the young man with no questions asked but after doing what she did to her counter part killing another innocent is something she couldn't bear. "Lead the way, right and left just nod your head so at least it looks like you're my prisoner. "I like you" She added as she slung her rifle and grasped his arm "Now, lead the way."

The youth stiffened as she touched him, and made to yank his arm away. "Don't touch me," he breathed, then started walking. "And why would I kill you, what would that gain me. If we walk in with you pointing a gun at me, then what do you think they may do to us both? When we get there, I need to have your weapon, or you toss it away beforehand...I can't lead you there with you pointing a weapon at me. Not the last part."

Abbey followed behind the man, her weapon raised only slightly "We'll need the weapons so I guess I'll just have to take a leap of faith with you" They continued to walk, out of the shuttle bay and towards their unknown destination. The corridors were mostly empty and with his bloody nose and her rifle pointed at his back they didnt so much as catch a sideways glance from any of the other terran empire soldiers.

It also didn't take much for the young pilot to look defeated, because in may ways he did feel defeated. He led her towards the geology lab, keeping his head bowed a little because blood was still pouring from his nose and he didn't want to swallow any more. "Almost there," he murmured, "two more corners, on the last corner I want your weapon."

Abbey frowned she really didn't want to hand over her weapon but he was also right, how would the other react when they rounded the corner and into where ever it was they were going one thing is for certain they would certainly hate if not worst try and kill her. "Fine, but promise me that you will give me asylum aboard your ship and under you direct custodian"

"I don't know if cadets can do that, but I'll try," he promised as they rounded the final corner and he held out his hand. When she gave the rifle to him, he knocked on the door and identified himself.

Wincing from the pain on her side as a speckle of blood beginning to appear she knew she had ripped her stitching from the mirror self's attack. "Thankyou" She said handing him the rifle as the door slid open, she knew she was in for a rocky couple of minutes and she hoped to god that her father wasn't here because she knew she'd be dead for sure.
