Having chose a table close to the observation window, Rebecca leaned back in her chair. One arm folded across her abdomen, she balanced on the back legs of her chair as the yeoman rolled her glass across her lower lip; lost in contemplation.

Her body was clad in a cotton dress, perhaps a little heavy for the ship's environment but it suited the woman's mood, especially the deep emerald green colour of the material. Cut to her usual thigh high length, it exposed her legs to any viewer; their eye tracing from where the material and skin met, down to her knee and down to where her bare feet hold the chair's balancing act steady. Her cast away high heeled shoes sat to one side.

It wasn't usual for Rebecca to be found this way, normally she would be sat at the bar; catching the eye of any man who took her fancy in order to flirt or perhaps even more but tonight...tonight she just couldn't feel bothered to play the game. Tonight let the men come to her if they wished, otherwise she was quite content with her own company.

What was it with green, Jynn questioned to himself as he stared at the lone figure by the observation window. Maybe he just had a thing for the color. After all his first hit of beauty he had experienced joining the crew was the green goddess of an admiral he had met right off the shuttle. Perhaps he would be more suited in a green robe than in the white robe he currently found himself in. Or perhaps it was his lack of sleep. He never really enjoyed sleep much, anyway, but it did seem rather useful despite his reluctance to admit it. He had found himself awake just minutes ago after a rather short but interesting night and was in need of some pep. And what better place to find pep than in the social hub of the ship?

I don't know her. Better remedy that. With those thoughts he walked over to the lady in green and sat down beside her, perhaps a bit closer than would be expected of a total stranger. "Jynn," he spoke with a smile as he looked right into her eyes. "You are?" 'Lovely' was the answer he was expecting.

Rebecca looked over at the other man in surprise. Although she'd left the seat beside her empty for anyone who cared to approach her, she hadn't thought that anyone would have the guts as such to do so. "Rebecca. I'm not used to being asked for my first name, people usually introduce themselves by stating their rank around here first."

"Rank tells me nothing about the person I am talking to. A name is at least a pleasant place to start before learning more about them." He breathed in deep as he looked her over. He was already learning quite a bit about her, though it was more about her physicality than her personality. He wanted to know more about the latter to compliment the former. But first. "That drink smells lovely, though I don't believe I've ever had the pleasure. What is it?"

It was hard to miss the one over the man was giving her. Shifting a little in her seat, she sat back in her seat, folding one leg over at other at the knee. Waving a hand towards the drink, she invited him to take a taste. "It's an old Earth tradition, whiskey. Some say it tastes similar to peat, a substance burned by humans in the as far back as the race can be dated because peat is created by rooting forests and vegetation so has been around longer than anyone can count."

Smiling as she briefly looked from the drink back to the man, a small smile played across the yeoman's lips. "It's also said that you need a strong stomach as it's not for the weak."

Her invitation was accepted as Jynn reached over and picked up the glass, twirling it around gently as he breathed in its scents once more. He had certainly had 'whiskey' before, but this once smelled different. He was totally unfamiliar with the peat she spoke of.

He let out a curious "hmm" before taking an oversized sip of the drink, swishing it around in his mouth just long enough to gather the tastes it possessed before swallowing it with only a hint of the rush one experienced when downing a rather potent drink. "Strong stomach," he said with a playful smile as he hit his stomach lightly with his free hand.

Laughing lightenly as she noted that the guy had practically finished her drink, Rebecca nodded towards a server to come over and join them. "What is your usual poison?"

"Whatever you pick," he said with a big smile. "This is my favorite part. I never order my own drink. At least not without a hint of inspiration first. Perhaps you can pick something that suits me? I know we barely know each other, but I'll trust your judgement."

Rebecca studied the other man for a few moments. He kept surprising her over and over, it wasn't many a man who would trust a woman to pick his drink. The white robe he was clothed in couldn't hide the dots which left but an inch wide area of bare skin at the front of his temple. It made her wonder for a moment if he was Trill but there was too many dots which made her wonder.

Allowing her eyes to travel down along his body, she already knew that he was tall from when he had first approached. The long legs reclining out in front of him also gave that away.

What was the best drink of choice for a fun loving man...."Let's try a sex on the beach? Let's see how the man gets on with something fruity. Hold the orange juice and use lemon juice, pineapple juice and sugar syrup instead." As she finished the order, the server walked away.

Jynn paused for a moment as he connected the sentences. He became relatively certain that the first pertained to the second and was not, in fact, an invitation, but he was feeling a little cheeky at the moment. Perhaps a little bit of subtle flirting. He didn't do subtle, but when he was inspired, he could pull it off quite well. "A fruity drink, eh? What's it called?"

Rebecca studied the man for a moment as the grin on her lips widened even further. "Sex on the beach....Did you think I was propositioning you? I must admit, I don't particularly like sex on beaches, the sand has a habit of getting in places where it is extremely difficult to get it back out of."

With a laugh that could not be contained Jynn slapped the side of his chair and shook his head. She was certainly turning out to be an interesting character, that was for sure. "I can only imagine. For now I'll just have to make due with the drink and just hope it doesn't come with any gritty sediment at the bottom."

"Without being offensive, where are you from? I'll take a guess at it not being Earth as your knowledge of our alcohol is greatly lacking. Unless you've been living under a bush in the wilderness that is." Sitting back in her chair, Rebecca folded her legs at the knee, causing the hem of her dress to ride up further on her thigh.

"None taken, though I would have hoped my charm and excitement would have been a clear giveaway. I suppose other cultures do have their share of fun-lovers, though, humans included. Delta Four, to answer your question."

As the server returned with their drinks he took his in hand and examined it as though he were actually looking for any gritty particles within. "And I'll have you know that I know quite a bit about alcohol. I just don't always ask what I am served. Keeps things fun!" He took a large sip of the drink and swished it around in his mouth, analyzing its every detail. Flavor. Texture. Sediment? Nope. He could identify most of the ingredients without much effort, but one of them eluded him. Whatever it was, it tasted... what... Green? "Grain spirits, grape spirits, vanilla, raspberry. Lemon and pineapple, as you so stated. But what's that last part? It tastes green," he said with a chuckle.

Rebecca looked at the stranger in surprise as she rolled over the word green in her head. "Well...of all of the responses I cant say that I was expecting you to say that it tastes green. Where did you manage to get that conclusion from?"

"Just makes sense, ya know?" It probably didn't make sense, but it did to him. "The colors of tastes. It seems that one is a curious shade of green. Perhaps it's the fruitiness? A melon-ish taste." He had some more sex on the beach. "Perhaps considerably more than 'ish.' It's gotta be some sort of melon."

Still very confused, Rebecca leaned over as she placed her hand over Jynn's hand holding the glass, moving the hand until she could manage a sip from the glass to see if she could understand where he was coming from. "Hummmm...melon is more of a mellow taste whereas I normally find that the drink can pack a punch from the sour taste of pineapple. You must have some very sensitive tastebuds to be able to detect the subtle tastes."

As Rebecca moved his drink-holding had to take a sip of her own Jynn couldn't help but smile warmly. He rather enjoyed the more intimate aspects of social life. The sharing. The physical contact. He just hadn't expected her to become so comfortable so soon. "Extremely," he said as he took another sip for himself. "It seems the whiskey we have drank may be affecting the taste somewhat as well, but I promise you I will not judge this 'sex on the beach' negatively simply because it seems to have a hint of peat to it. Aside from that slight smokiness it seems rather festive!"

Laughing as she nodded for the waiter to approach, Rebecca kept the stranger's hand in hers as she leaned over Jynn in order to give their order. "Two more sexes on the beach cocktail but also two mint sorbets."

Watching as the waiter moved away, the yeoman moved her body back but kept the closer distance she had established between them both at the hip. "Take two...the sorbet will help to cleanse your palet in order to get a proper taste of the cocktail. Let's see if we can clear that peat taste shall we?"

"Oh, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Like putting your thumb over part of a picture I can just sorta ignore that part of the whole picture of it's taste." The closeness was rather enjoyable. As difficult as he had found it to control himself at times he still felt safe out in the open. He took the time to savor being in close proximity of another being, all of his senses tuned in. "But by all means will I take another. And the sorbet, too!"

Still holding his hand in hers, Rebecca pulled his hand in close as she studied it closely. "What is the significance of the tattoos on your body?"

"A chronicle of life's journeys and ambitions," he replied in an upbeat tone. "Some choose to write journals. Others choose to write autobiographies. I prefer to chronicle my life's adventures upon my own body. What better way to write about your life than on your life," he spoke with a beaming smile as he pulled the sleeve back on his robe to reveal more of his experiences than could be read by his hands alone. "So many places. So many ships. They all hold a special place on my body and within my heart." He looked Rebecca over as if to try and read her in some way, curious as to the life of the person who he had chosen to sit with. "How do you record your life?"

Rebecca leaned in even closer again as she brushed her fingertips across the stranger's bare skin as she tried to understand the graphics. "I don't....I guess I keep some record in the logs which the federation requires us to keep but personally...I retain the memories I enjoy and just let the rest drift away. There's no point in clinging to that which just brings you down."

"I do hope you at least have some bad memories," he replied in a tone that implied no malice but was obviously oblivious to any negativity that could be interpreted from the statement. "How would you truly cherish the good memories without the bad ones to highlight them?" This was to say nothing of Jynn's almost genuine enjoyment, at least in reflection, of the low points in life, but he still thought that everyone at least needed some bad moments to truly give perspective

Rebecca shrugged her shoulders as she pulled her drink in closer, her fingers beginning to make patterns in the condensation on the glass. "They seem pointless in some way, why linger over the failures in life? You made your mistakes, learn from them and move on. You set them aside in order to make room for the new memories that come into place."

The index finger of Jynn's left hand mimicked Rebecca's glass writing, drawing out a rather simple pattern of his own. Before he set down his class he wrote out his thoughts of the person in front of him. F-U-N. "I suppose there is some truth to that, but I'd like to think there' still plenty of room in here for all of the memories," he said as he tapped gently on his head with a smile.

"Then why need them here?" Rebecca grinned as she lightly ran her fingertips across Jynn's bare arm in a sensual manner.

Jynn smiled at her touch. It was as though she was reading his tattoos with her hand. He rather enjoyed the feeling as a bit of a shiver went down his spine. "A bit of artistic license with my body, I suppose. I rather like the thought of my body changing with my experiences just as much as my mind does. A new experience leaves me a new mark here," he said as he pointed to his head. "And here," he finished by pointing towards his body.

As Rebecca allowed her fingertips to trace each line of each tattoo within reach she couldn't help but, naturally, wonder how much of his body was covered with these memories. It was on the tip of her tongue to ask but she wasn't certain how literal he would take showing her. Although she had no problem with seeing the man strip naked she wasn't certain how much those around them both would appreciate it. "You will have to show me some evening the extend of the recording of your memories."

"Not now," he questioned in a tone of excitement as he let out a laugh. He then smirked at her as he continued, "there was a time I would have shown you right here and now, but the first few times I did that for people I learned that some... most people are quite a bit more reserved than I. But I would certainly love to let you read me." He felt a little nervous after those last words. He had certainly had his troubles with self control, but he was sure he could handle it. He had to. Besides, all she was asking was to see his tattoos. Completely harmless.

Smiling as her fingers touched the clothe of his cloak, Rebecca tilted her head a little to the side as she playfully tugged it gently. "Sounds like a date."

"Sure," Jynn replied with a bit of nervous anticipation. He could use a little practice with his self control. Perhaps letting someone get close to him (again) could help him with that. And she seemed like such a nice person. He would have hated to deprive anyone of seeing his artwork, especially this 'Rebecca.' "What time," he asked with a smile.

Rebecca's eyes glanced to the chronograph on the wall behind the bar before doing some mental calculations, "Which shift are you on?"

With a turn of the head to check the same device Rebecca found herself looking at Jynn answered her question in an almost innocent tone "Alpha shift, my dear. I've always been a morning person. And I'm afraid I must check in to medical in a few hours."

"Beta is out as that's my shift so I hope that you don't mind me swinging by extra early before your shift." Rebecca's head tilted a little to the side as her fingers slide back down the stranger's arm before she placed the hand back against her knee.

"I wouldn't mind at all," he replied with a smile, though a part of him was disappointed with the ending of their physical contact. He nodded towards the chronograph. "As you can see I'm not one to sleep much, anyway. Perhaps same time tomorrow?"

Leaning in, Rebecca made to move across to tip the last of her drink into her mouth, swallowing before answering. "Your place or mine?"

"Yours," he said unquestioningly. What better place to learn more about someone than in their quarters. He could probably deduce quite a lot simply by gazing around the interior of her room, he hoped she wouldn't mind him being so swift to invite himself over.

Rebecca thought it over for a moment as she tried to think through David's diary to know if he'd be there or not. Not that it'd be bad if he was come to think of it. "I'll send you on my quarters details but a word of warning, it's a little cozy to say the least. Enlisted aren't afforded much comfort on already crowded ships."

Cozy was a most comforting word to Jynn. He almost couldn't fathom how crowding could ever be seen as a problem. "The more the merrier," he said with a smile. An extra body could prove beneficial in keeping him calm. Maybe. "See you at oh three hundred?"

Moving to her feet, Rebecca shimmied past Jynn's knees before being able to stand to exit the room. Leaning down she gently brushed her lips across his cheek before moving back with a small wave. "Oh three hundred. Don't be late." With her final words, the yeoman exited the room, her thoughts on what maybe about to happen tomorrow and the possibilities it may hold.
