Mission: Episode 07 - Sojourn
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 3, Sickbay
Timeline: MD11: 0730 hours

ON:

Tuula was tired. Between Mott's snoring and the constant coming and going of his extended family, and now trying to deal with her parents, she was left with little time to sleep.

"Good morning, doctor," said Tuula, entering Allyndra's office, with bags under her eyes. "Computer, one mocha latte, with a double shot of espresso. And a whipped topping," she called out, hoping to get a chance to satisfy her craving for caffeine before the patients started rolling in. As the coffee materialized in the replicator, she picked up a PADD on Allyndra's desk containing their appointment list for the day. "Lets see here, first up... a boarding physical for a Lieutenant Zane Neptune..." she mused before placing it back down and making a beeline for her coffee.

Allyndra looked up and shook her head. "What have I said before? No titles here unless absolutely needed. While your at it, that drink sounds delicious please another if you do not mind." Allyndra waited a moment while Tuula got another cup.

"Already? We seem to be getting a few new ones already. So you want to take lead on this?"

"Sure," replied Tuula. "Computer, make that two." As she went to fetch her boss a coffee, she let out a yawn. "I know, it's a lot. Good thing for coffee; between all these physicals and this fake marriage, I'm just totally drained."

Making the least dramatic entrance he could, Zane strode into sickbay and looked around. The two people milling about with coffee looked like the ones with whom would be best to speak.

"I'm here for a physical," he said, hoping he wouldn't have to address anyone as "ma'am" or "sir" without knowing anyone to address generically. He liked to know who he was talking to, when possible. "Lieutenant Neptune reporting?" He smiled after he said it.

Allyndra was just taking a sip of the drink she had been blowing on when a short male entered. For all his lack of average height he seemed to have made up with sheer bulk of muscle. Allydnra looked over at Tuula and smiled. "Maybe I should have taken lead. Nice specimen."

Tuula blushed slightly. "Quite," she said, nonchalantly. The hulking bodybuilder wasn't exactly her type, but Allyndra seemed to be interested. She did think it curious that he was wearing a blue uniform; most of the meatheads she had dealt with tended to wear yellow or green instead.

"Well let's double team then," Allyndra replied and waved at the man. "Please no formality here, I hate all those titles if I can avoid them. I am Allyndra Chief Medical Officer and this is Tuula ship's physician. Would you like something before we get started?"

"Nothing strikes me as imperative," he said. "Honestly, I keep pretty tight tabs on my physical well being. I may, of course, be carrying some strange and scary disease that may cause me to turn plaid when I laugh, but time will tell."

"Really?" Allyndra asked. "How did you pass initial clearance with Fleet and I would be fascinated to observe your chromophore response. Are you able to consciously change colour?" Allyndra had taken the man for more or less a human but perhaps she had made a mistake.

"That's a joke." He raised an eyebrow. "I just mean that I tend to pay attention to the overall health of my body. Working out at the level I do lends itself to that."

"I can see that," replied Tuula, glancing once more at his biceps. She was slightly repulsed by the masses of muscle; to her it just didn't look natural. "Why don't you take a seat on the biobed while we pull up your file?"

"Oh," Allyndra replied somewhat disappointed. As Tuula headed for a biobed she downloaded the sent file over onto a PaDD for Tuula and then went to join up with the two. "Here you go," Allyndra handed the PaDD over to Tuula. She took a half step back since this was Tuula's patient but interested none the less to see and hear the man's medical record.

"Nothing out of the ordinary," mused Tuula as she perused the medical record. "In fact, he seems to be quite healthy; I'm sure he gets a lot of exercise."

"Anything new or problems we should be aware of?" Allyndra mentioned over Tuula's shoulder. She had caught that species was listed as human looking at the PaDD and wondered about the muscles. She hoped he was not taking certain supplements to enhance that physique. They were not good for long term health.

"I suppose that's what we're about to find out," replied Tuula, handing the PADD back to Allyndra before turning and heading out to see the patient. "All right, Zane," she started as she approached the muscular Lieutenant, "have you been having any problems, or have you noticed anything out of the ordinary since your last visit?"

Allyndra watched the proceedings but scrolled through the information to take a look at the last chemistry panel that had been done: Liver function normal, metabolic panel within normal, hormonal was a bit out of norm but nothing that indicated to her an obvious supplement use. It was a relief but then the man must be highly dedicated to building of the body mass.

"Well, I do have this large lump." Zane flexed his bicep, pointed, and smiled. "Okay, no, nothing that I feel worried about. Like I said, I like to watch what I do to maximize what you're seeing here. Competition tends to do that."

"I see." Tuula rolled her eyes slightly, then glanced over her shoulder back at Allyndra, who seemed to be rather impressed. Well, there's no accounting for taste, she figured as she pulled out her tricorder. "I'm just going to run some routine scans here, and then take a blood sample for analysis."

Allyndra was slightly concerned when Zane indicated that he had a problem and Tuula did nothing. She moved closer and looked a the scans. "I see nothing that indicates a lymphatic or tumor growth. Am I looking at the right lump?"

Zane had to smile. He hadn't met anyone who took things so literally. "You must not have a firm grasp of humor. I was only pointing out the muscle." He flexed again and pointed at the bicep.

"Oh!" Allyndra replied. "Well there are things between cultures that I still fail to fully grasp though I am trying. Human culture dominates much on many ships of StarFleet." She cocked her head for a moment and then held out a slim fingered hand, "May I touch? I am intrigued by the definition of each muscle group and considering that I detected no signs of supplemental hormone it must have been quiet an achievement to obtain."

Tuula just shook her head as she continued scanning. At least Allyndra was enjoying herself, she figured.

Zane flexed again and offered up the bicep. When Allyndra poked the muscle to start off, Zane decided that he should elaborate. "A long time ago, you had to have hormones to achieve something of this size. With replicators able to make food to exact specifications, I can really order exactly what I need to fuel the body for maximum growth. I expect to shrink a little on board because I just don't see me having 100% of the time I'd need to spend to keep my size. I'm not competing, so I don't think I'll be terribly bothered by that."

Allyndra nodded. "Amazing discipline then to do that naturally." She laughed lightly before turning away to let Tuula finish up. "You would have quite a following at an Iresima house back home."

"All right then," interjected Tuula as she finished her scans, thinking that her boss had done enough admiring of Zane's muscles for one day. "Scans are completed; I'm not detecting anything out of place. Only one thing left; the blood sample." She handed a hypospray loaded with a sample container to Allyndra. "Allyndra, would you care to do the honours?"

While normally a swab would do and the scan would have most of the information along with previous medical information, Allyndra went ahead and with a practice born of many years practice obtained the sample. "All done, doctor," She said letting Tuula be the lead again.

"Excellent," she replied. "Mr. Neptune, you're free to go. I'm not detecting anything physically wrong with you, and assuming the blood tests don't reveal anything out of the ordinary, you should be cleared for duty within 48 hours."

"Thank you. If there's nothing else, I guess I'll go lift things up and put them down." Zane smirked, hoping the reference wouldn't be lost on both of them.

"Just do not overdo anything. We would not want you back here just after getting a tentative clearance." Allyndra said with a deadpan voice.

I could say the same about you, the way you've been ogling that hunk of meat, thought Tuula. Though perhaps Allyndra would be pleased to see him return. "I'll message you the results within the next two days," replied Tuula. "Assuming, of course, there's nothing wrong and you have to come see us again. But you shouldn't have to come back for a while, right, Allyndra?"

"Yes you are correct," Allyndra replied. She caught some of the look Tuula gave her and wondered for a moment. Perhaps it was because Tuula was not familiar that her own people were distinctly sexually trimorphic.

Zane nodded and walked out. He had to smile because even just being in the room with the two of them he knew there would be an interesting conversation coming.

As soon as the door closed, Tuula looked back towards Allyndra. "I didn't realize that he was your type. You do realize that flirting with the patients is frowned upon by Starfleet Medical, right?" she asked, teasing her gently.

"Flirting? Not I. I was simply admiring the physique from a clinical standpoint," Allyndra replied. "Besides, he reminds me of some of the specimens at the Irsemia house."

"Of course, a clinical standpoint," replied Tuula with a wink.
