Keval had been staring at the half finished painting on the easel for at least ten minutes without realizing it. It wasn't as if he were lost in the beauty, it could hardly beautiful and it surely was no masterpiece. Not even close. He was just confused period. He decided there was no use trying to continue. There were just too many questions running through his mind and he couldn't concentrate on his art at the moment.

Working might, so he cleaned the brushes and changed out of his paint stained tee-shirt and yoga pants into a uniform. The grabbing a PAaD he made his way to the Operations office.

The burly half-Klingon was only a recent arrival aboard the USS Galileo, having been assigned to the starship as the Assistant Chief Operations Officer. It would mark only as Lieutenant Da'Kar's third assignment since he graduated from Starfleet Academy. However, he had been rotated around from starship to starship in a short period of time. Galileo may have been his third assignment, but it was his third assignment in the small span of about four years. I've done well for myself thought the young Operations Officer as he sat at the Chief Operations Officer's desk. With his superior taking advantage of some of her shore leave time, Da'Kar had too refuge in her office. He had wanted to work on several items of business, mostly familiarizing himself with the ship and crew while the starship was docked and her crew were mostly not aboard.

The half-Klingon had lurched forward in the chair, skimming through the information on the personal computer before him, and the PADD that was off to the side. In the background, Tomek's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, Op. 18 played as the lieutenant went about his work. He was in the middle of reading through a personnel file when the Assistant Chief Operations Officer felt the presence of someone approaching the office. Low and behold, he looked up and an Andorian was soon standing there before him.

Da'Kar scanned the man's uniform with his eyes, looking for a rank to identify the man. It was easily located and they were not rank pips. Enlisted noted Da'Kar as he wet his dry lips to speak. "Nuq'nuh, Chief" said Da'Kar strongly as he made eye contact with the Andorian and greeted him. "If you are looking for Lieutenant Zhao, I believe she is with her par'Mach" informed the lieutenant. "May I assist you with something?" asked Da'Kar politely.

Keval hadn't really been expecting anyone else to be in the office, most everyone was on shore leave and it was pretty much just a skeleton staff. He'd come here to avoid distractions, not add to them and the fact that the officer in front of him was at least, mildly attractive added even further to the distraction.

Both of his antennae were curled slightly forward. "No sir, " he replied, "I'm Keval Gra... I'm Keval zh'Erinov, I work here. I was just stopping by to do some work. You know keep my mind occupied. Uh, how are you sir?"

"Cautious" replied Da'Kar with a small smirk sweeping up his face. "An honor meet you. I am the new Assistant Chief Operations Officer, and I've been made aware of the recent Tribble infestation that the Galileo had. I'm waiting to find one those unruly pests."

Keval allowed himself a small smile, "I think we got rid of them all, but if you find any, you can get rid of them anyway you want, I'm not going to judge or ask any questions. And by the way, welcome aboard. The Galileo tends to be a, how do you say, a lightning rod for attracting the weird, Tribbles gone wild, zombies, Borg, you're right to be cautious.

How long have you been here sir?"

Da'Kar let out a good chuckle. "Then, I shall fit in quite well here" replied the half-Klingon as he thought about himself and his mixed parentage. He called for the music to mute so that he could speak with the man. "In this office, not long at all. Aboard the starship, a little over a day. I've mostly been aboard the Starbase preparing for this assignment."

"Well you've probably gotten the grand tour by now, but if not I can show you around." He took a closer look at he officer and noticed the ridges. His left antennae curled back slightly as he took notice. It didn't bother him at all, in fact he thought they made him look more attractive. Not that he should be thinking like that. Breaking out of his short reverie he said, "So you're the new assistant chief? Good, Lt. Zhao, soon to be Lt. Nicholas, could use the help."

Being half-Betazoid, Lieutenant Da'Kar had been aware of some emotions in the room. Though he was not nearly as skillful with his abilities as he should be, and for the most part he did not focus on the emotional state of those around him. "She has been doing quite well before me. I am sure that she is more than capable, but it will be an honor to assist her" replied Da'Kar.

"I'm sure you'll be a fine asset and a great addition to the staff. Do you have any questions I might be able to answer for you?"

Da'Kar thought for a moment. He was aware that the tribble situation was supposedly taken care of, the starship seemed to be in steady and stable working conditions. He could not immediately think of anything involving his department to ask the man about. However, he wanted to make some sort of conversation. "How's the food here? Do we have a Mess Hall with a chef or cook, or are we living off of the replicators?" asked Da'Kar.

"Replicator mostly, but we have a couple of lounges that serve real food and I do sneak in one now and then and try my hand at cooking. I'm not bad at it."

"Wonderful" replied Da'Kar. "I will have to see what I can find to eat next time that I take a break" added Da'Kar. "What's your specialty?" asked the half-Klingon with an interest.

"I am fairly eclectic, ," Keval replied, "Everything from really spicy food do dessert.'

"How spicy? I tend to enjoy something with a good kick to it" said Da'Kar. "Klingon food is my favorite. Nothing beats a hot bowl of Bah'gol to warm the warrior's soul."

"Well pretty damn spicy, but most of the food I fix, dead and cooked, maybe you'll have to come over an sample it sometime."

Da'Kar nodded. "I am sure that you will be seeing me around and we can make plans then. For the time being, I really should get back to this work before the boss woman comes back."

"Good enough, I'll see you around." Keval said as he turned to go.
