[ON]

The soft hum of the warp core was the only discernible sound in the guest quarters, along with the occasional early-morning cooing of Gilgamesh and Belle whom Lirha had managed to smuggle aboard the USS Jespin for their vacation trip to Rigel VII. The speedy Intrepid-class starship had been the fastest mode of transport available to Orion and her wedding guests, and she'd pulled a few strings with the captain to ensure both she and her entourage would make it to Vajripam with enough ample time to spare for several days of luxury and relaxation following the official ceremony.

Now, however, during the journey to the Rigel system, Lirha found herself having trouble sleeping, and her second night aboard the starship was already beginning to make her feel restless. With a quiet sigh, she pulled the sheets back off of her and rolled onto her back to stare out through the window for a long moment at the streaking stars whose twinkling blurs shone into her quarters and cast a soft glint across her naked green body. Once again she focused her thoughts on the gentle vibrations of the warp core, and noted to herself how it felt slightly different from Galileo's. Perhaps that was the reason for her sleeplessness, she wondered. Or...maybe she was simply suffering from some sort of marriage anxiety? She wasn't quite sure, and she had no idea what to do about it. Perhaps a drink might help?

Lirha sighed again and rolled her head over to the other side to look at her fiance who was snuggled under the sheets next to her. Reaching out gently with her hand, she tucked some of Siren's red hair back from the side of her face then affectionately trailed her finger down the side of her cheek. She looked so peaceful and relaxed...and if she didn't seem anxious or restless, then why couldn't Lirha be the same way?

"..Are you awake...?" the Orion whispered. She didn't seem to be, but it was Lirha's gentle way of coaxing her to open her eyes and talk to her.

"I am now..." Siren murmured, but a small smile curled her lips as she blinked her eyes open with a soft sigh. "And you shouldn't be," she leant to press a kiss to the fingertips that caressed her. "What's wrong?" she asked gently, knowing her well enough to realise that something had to be playing on her mind if she wasn't catching her sleep where she could.

"I do not know," Lirha confessed. She wasn't sure if anything was really wrong, per say, but her mind had been wandering an awful lot recently. "I just...cannot sleep. I have been thinking about our wedding a lot, recently," she admitted. The tone of her voice wasn't hesitant, but rather inquisitive.

"Well that bodes well," Siren chuckled softly, but despite the sarcasm there was still a gentle playfulness about it rather than ill will. "The thought of our wedding keeping you up at night," she shook her head, sitting up a bit against her pillow to see her better. "It's a big change. Commitment. That's not something I'd expected in my life," she admitted openly.

The Orion rolled on her side and propped her head up on her palm to look more intently at her fiance. "It is funny... For many years I searched for a partner with the desire to get married and start a family. And now, after I found you and we are on our way to our wedding....for some reason I am thinking about it more and more." She gave a frustrated chuckle at the irony of the situation. "I am not second guessing it. Or you. Just...pondering the future, I suppose."

"I guess...most things in your life have been about your career," Siren hazarded a guess, searching her features in the dim light. "This is so different from that. You know you're great at what you do, but this is something completely different. A new challenge."

A new challenge indeed, Lirha silently mused. She wondered if she would make a good wife. And if Siren would make a good one as well. It couldn't be too difficult, could it? They had gotten along great so far without any major hiccups and had even spent a good deal of time living together during the commonly referred to 'trial period' that many Earth couples went through before marriage. "Do you think it will be different? After the wedding? We already share quarters and our bed. I cannot imagine things between us will change too much."

Siren mused on the question, frowning as she gave it real thought rather than a glib reply. "I don't see why it should," she said softly. "It's what we make of it, right? It only needs to change things if we let it...and if we let it, I guess it'll be for a change we want," she laughed softly at herself, shaking her head quickly to try and shrug off the blush. "Not that I know what the hell I'm talking about...."

"I would not worry. I am sure my mother will give us plenty of advice once we arrive in Vajripam," replied Lirha. That was perhaps a bit of an understatement. The commodore half-expected for Aila to give both of them a ten-volume marriage manual complete with instructions for every situation they might encounter throughout the duration of their union. "I think she is excited to meet you. In person," she added.

"I hope so, I'm nervous about it," Siren admitted, her voice almost a whisper with the confession. "Still, it can't be more embarrassing than being given a sex book from her," she teased, laughing warmly as she rubbed her arm fondly. "Mind you, it did the trick..."

Yes, it certainly did, Lirha whispered insider her own head with a soft laugh. Thoughts of their fun tryout sessions ran through her mind, and accompanied by Siren's warm hand rubbing her arm, she suddenly found herself very aroused. Slipping beneath the covers while wrapping a toned green leg around her fiance's waist, she proceeded to slowly rub her hand up and down Siren's chest and over her supple mounds. "Do you want to play?" she whispered in a sultry voice. Perhaps maybe after some foreplay and release, she could finally get back to sleep

Siren smiled softly at the reaction, her skin prickling with heat at the caresses. She kissed her gently, her fingertips dragging up the length of the thigh tight against her. "Let's see if we can't ease you up, hm?"
