Mission: Episode 07 - Sojourn
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 2, Section 30, Room 15 - Min & Jared's Quarters
Timeline: MD -20 - 0900hrs (2100hrs Earth Time)

ON:

[USS Galileo]

Min keyed in her code to access the Galileo's comm's system. With the Mission to Lyshan finished and the ship on it's way to Starbase 84 for resupply and refit, crew were finally permitted access to comms for personal messages.

Waiting while the comm's system linked her up to the Federation civilian network, Min had a few minutes to reflect on the past two weeks. Lian, currently sleeping in Min's arms, had made her appearance earlier then anyone had expected and Jared had agreed to have the wedding when they were at the Starbase.

A beep brought her back to reality as the Federation logo came up, then a quick scroll of text indicating a successful link to her parent's place. Seconds later, her mother's face flashed onto the screen.

Elisabet had not been expecting a call but she was pleased to see her daughter's face on the screen when she answered the incoming message. "Min how are you? It's good to hear from you." That seemed like the easiest way to start.

A smile crossed Min's face. "Doing well Mother. We were under mission blackout the past few weeks but I wanted to call and share some good news. Two pieces of good news actually."

"What good news do you have?" Elisabet inquired. Relieved to hear from Min and that she appeared to be doing well. As a mother she couldn't help but worry at times. Staying silent for a moment to allow Min to update her.

"First." Min held up Lian Meru who was busy sleeping. "Your granddaughter, Lian Meru. Made her appearance two-ish weeks ago. Bit ahead of schedule."

For a moment Elisabet listened to her daughter, "Are both you and Lian healthy? I expected you to still be pregnant since your due date hasn't passed yet."

"We're both doing fine. Because Lian's father is Bajoran, Doctor's weren't sure what her due date would be exactly. She decided to arrive almost two months earlier then expected for a human, two months late for a Bajoran."

Min grinned. "I guess Shen still has a little longer to go?"

"Yes Shen is 33 weeks," Elisabet replied, "Things are going well. Though she's ready for the baby to arrive. You should call her if you get a chance. " Pausing for a moment, "So you indicated you had another reason you wanted to talk to me?"

"Yes. I don't remember if you met Jared when I was back on earth? He's a linguist on the Galileo I met when I first came back to earth. He proposed before Lian was born and we were wanting to have you and father present for the ceremony on Starbase 84."

Elisabet let that sink in for a moment, "I've heard the name but you haven't introduced us. You know what you father is going to say." She wanted to be there for her daughter either way but it would take some convincing.

Min sighed. "I think I know what father will say. I also think father needs to be reminded that his romancing of you mother wasn't exactly a model of slow either. I remember Grampa once saying that he wasn't exactly pleased when father showed up on his doorstep with you in tow. As I recall, you were about twelve weeks along with Yu Zhen, and to that point, Grampa didn't know you were dating him, let alone having his child."

Almost as that last part came out, Min winced. "Sorry mother. I didn't mean that the way it sounded. I know that wasn't exactly the easiest time in your life, and father earned Grampa's respect in the years to follow."

"Min we'll be there. I won't miss my own daughter's wedding," Elisabet commented. One way or another she'd fulfill that promise to Min. Eventually her husband would come around but it might take dragging him onto the transport before that happened.

"Thank you. The invitation is also extended to any of the family who wishes to come. I know my sisters are scattered with their work but YuZhen and Shen are welcome to come if Shen feels up to traveling."

"I'll pass the word on," Elisabet replied, "I know she'd like to be there with YuZhen. We'll just have to see how things go."

Min smiled. "If she can. I know she's close and SB84 is easily three weeks at high warp. Tell her I'll understand if she can't but I'd love to have her if she can. Which reminds me, I'll have a berth waiting for you and father on one of the high-warp transports Mirella Shipping runs out here. Won't be a luxury cruise but they're one of the best."

"Thank you. Both your father and I look forward to seeing you Min and our new granddaughter." A smile appeared as Elisabet spoke. There was something about a new baby in the family that made her day.

Min bowed her head in respect to her mother. "I will be in touch once I have firmed up some dates. I know it is late so I will not keep you. Thank you, and tell father I love him."

Elisabet smiled, "Sound good. I'll be watching for the information. I'll pass on your good news. Get some sleep as well, at least as much as its feasible with a new baby. Good night Min. You father and I love you."

"Good night Mother." Min closed the channel, elated but also a little nervous. With her folks arriving in three weeks, there was no backing out now.
