800 words; about a 4 minute read
Mission:
Episode 01 - Project Sienna
Location: Intellgeince Office, Evelyn's Quarters
Timeline: MD 6 1400
ON:
Evelyn's eyes skimmed down the PADD, reading over the satellites sensor scans for a third time, This can't be right. she thought. "Computer are you sure this data is correct?"
Affirmative the computer promptly responded.
Running her fingers through her hair, her thoughts ran wild. It's over. My Rao it's over. She stood up shaking her head. The time, date, the image, everything is condemning once revealed.
"The Captain must be told." She said to herself, Staff Meeting, "Everyone should know, she shared the project information, I'll...share it with everyone then." Evelyn said allowed, nodding. Why am I talking to myself? "Urghh!" she groaned and covered her face with her hands.
Evelyn sat there in her office, her face in her hands, elbows on her lap. Suddenly she felt an breeze cold as ice against her skin.
" What's the matter now, Cousin?"
Evelyn froze and slowly lowered her hands, her eyes widen as she saw a woman sitting in front of her. "You're not real." She whispers.
The red head smirked, "Real enough." She leaned forward. "Stop fighting Evelyn."
"I'm not fighting." She said firmly.
" If that's the case, I'd hate to see you when you're cooperating, " The woman stood up and walked around the table, and kneeled in front of Evelyn, reaching out to take her hands. "Cousin, I am only trying to help you. "
The woman's skin was soft as silk; her eyes were a piecing ice blue, almost hypnotic. "That's what you call the visions? Help?"
"You're two hundred years old, Evelyn. You know what the means." The woman said firmly.
"My purification? Because I'm tainted is that right, Cousin?" Evelyn said accusingly, as she pulled her hands away, crossing her arms.
"You're not listening anymore." The woman said sadly. "An El-Aurian who doesn't listen can be very dangerous."
Evelyn glared, "I am not dangerous." She snared, "Maybe if our people just stopped listening and looked with their eyes the Borg wouldn't have destroyed our home! There are El-Aurians that are 500, 700 years old and wasting away. Secluded, ignorant; I will not become like them!" She turned away.
The woman reached for Evelyn's chin and gently turned the blonde back to face her. She looked deeply into Evelyn's eyes and smiled. "I knew you were special Cousin, she leaned back and snapped her fingers.
Evelyn's eyes snapped open and pulled her head up from her arms, her eyes adjusting to the light of her office. She pulled back looking around. "A dream." She whispered as she wiped her face.
Download Complete The voice of the computer announced.
"Download? Computer what download?" She asked.
Sensor information from Federation Intelligence Satellite 33-419 has been successfully downloaded.
Evelyn turned to the computer console and pulled up the information, reading it over. It was identical to the Data PADD's in her dream. Evelyn's shoulders slumped as she covered her mouth as the cold chill of fear climbed up her back. She quickly stood up and walked out of her office. She walked down the corridor and entered the turbolift. "Deck 2." She shouted and the lift ascended.
As the lift halted and the doors opened, she headed straight for her quarters, stumbling through the corridor.
As she entered her room, she made her way to her bedroom. Kneeling down by a wall, she pressed her hand on the side panel and a small portion of the wall slid up. She reached in and pulled a metallic box out.
As if running on pure instinct, she opened the container revealing two small silver crystals and a large red orb. She reached and grabbed the crystals, holding them to either side of her head, pressing them against her temples. She began to sway back and forth. "Elx auriex nex ooria." she chanted, and then red orb began to glow. She continued to chant and then the crystals began to illuminate.
The crystals glowed for only a second and Evelyn's swaying paused, she felt the cells of her body beginning to vibrate and her muscles relaxed. Her mind began to clear, and the fear she felt had left. She lowered the crystals and sighed, "Much better..." she whispers.
Closing the container and placing it back to the closet, she reached for another box. Opening it up, she pulled out one for the small vials inside and pocketed it; she returned the box to the closet.
Evelyn stood up, and brushed the lint off her uniform, Stay focus, Evelyn, stay focused. she thought to herself.
