Lamar rounded the corner of a T-junction on Deck 3 dressed in a casual gray polo shirt and basic faded blue jeans. Tucked under his arm was a small replicated bottle of Bloodwine, and in his other hand he held a small bouquet of peonies which he'd recently picked from the arboretum with the help of one of Galileo's science officers. Armed with his two weapons of seduction, he strolled down the corridor until he came across Allyndra's quarters. He did a quick straightening of his shirt to make sure he looked presentable, then stepped forward and reached for the door chime only to be surprised when the door suddenly swished open for him.

Hmm...guess we're on a 'let yourself in' basis, he mused as he stepped inside her quarters and looked around. "Honey, I'm home." He couldn't resist the early 1990s Earth pop culture reference. He was afterall, admittedly a connoisseur of late 20th century history.

Allyndra had just gotten up and was taking a shower. A real one. She detested the sonic ones since they always left her ears ringing and the tinnitus lasted for hours.
Thus she never heard the door open but she did hear Lamar's voice.

Shutting the shower off quickly she grabbed a towel to hold to herself and stepped out to her main quarters. Lamar was there with flowers and a bottle but she spent but a second or two on those. Instead she enjoyed the way the shirt hinted at his muscled torso and the jeans left little to imagination being deliciously tight.

She was engrossed enough that she just stood there dripping water from skin, hair and wings before she asked curiously, "Home? And who is Honey?" Perhaps Allyndra thought he had someone else but had come here by mistake.

The sound of a water shower shutting off peaked his interest, and he curiously turned to look towards the bathroom just in time to see her come out with nothing but a towel wrapped around her. Her milky skin and the blue-metallic highlights in her hair glistened with water, and he couldn't help but stare back at her for a long and lustful moment.

"Old Earth slang," he finally explained with a small grin. "Honey's an old-school term of endearment, and home is...well, here." He stepped forward and showed her his gifts. "I brought you presents."

Allyndra understood the former but she did not quite understand the later but ignored it turning her attention to what he held. "Presents? What do you have?"
She moved closer leaving drips all over the carpet. While normally very prudent, once someone was a close friend or lover a lot of the formality that lay on the surface was dropped.

"Flowers and..." Allyndra guessed at the contents since the label was hidden in the crook of his arm. "Wine?"

"Yeah, Bloodwine. Your favorite." He un-tucked the bottle from the inside of his arm and offered it out for her to see.

She leaned to give him a kiss and then stepped back, "Very thoughtful. Now let me get dressed unless you had other ideas?"

After they broke the kiss, he looked her up and down then gave her a mischievous grin with playful dark brown eyes. "Well...yeah, kind of," he admitted with a sudden rush of arousal. "But I was actually thinking we could go on that date we talked about, so maybe we can wait until we get to the holodeck and not spoil the fun too soon?" he proposed with a wink.

Allyndra laughed lightly and then turned flicking her still wet wings sending a small shower over the room. "Then let me get something appropriate on and we shall go flying then." She knew exactly what she would wear and went to replicator and had a flying dress made. It was a simple thing, light cotton like substance, cut to just above mid-thigh, low in back and thin straps. She dropped the towel and slipped it on not caring that it clung in spots to her skin. She turned and said, "We call it a flight dress."

If there was one thing Allyndra was extremely good at, it was her selection of stunning dresses which revealed her smooth silky skin and well-toned body. Nodding enthusiastically, he gave her his approval. "I love it..."

Allyndra made a small curtsey. "Thank you, it is made for ease of movement and to be light. Weight is the enemy of flight." She then remembered the flowers and turned to the replicator to make a vase with water. "Now then, let's get these here, they are lovely." She took the flowers and put them in the vase.

Turning again, "Did you wish to take that bottle with us or share later here?"

He shrugged, not really caring either way. "As much as I want to have a few drinks right now, it might be better to not get drunk while we're trying to fly. Crashes, you know?"

"Now while I love your clothing if you wish to try hang gliding and fly with me, the top is fine but perhaps something less covering and looser to wear?"

Looking down at his jeans which he was rather fond of, he suddenly wondered about the practicality and restrictiveness of the heavy fabric. "Like what? Shorts or sweatpants?" he asked.

Allyndra stepped back and thought and nodded while she did so, "I think shorts would be better." She did not iterate the rest of her thought which went, 'And show off those lovely muscled legs'. She then added, " You can use my replicator, but first let's get that bottle chilled and then it is all yours."

She turned back to replicator and had a basket like she used on their picnic on Akkadia made up, but inside there was a blanket looking thing that had a Peltier cooler built in along with a couple of glasses that resembled Terran champagne glasses.

Allyndra stepped back and plucked the bottle from Lamar's arm and jerked her head toward the machine and turned her back for politeness sake though she could see in the reflection of one chrome strip. She enjoyed the view while he changed and shook her head slightly. Lamar could make a fortune in an Irsemia House on Akkadia if they allowed aliens to work there.

The whisper of fabric stopped and she looked down making sure the bottle was tucked just right before saying, "Ready?"

Now donning a pair of black and gray athletic shorts which were indeed a bit more loose and comfortable than the heavy jeans he'd been wearing, he nodded to her then paused to adjust the fabric. "Ready when you are," he answered.

Turning a grin came onto her face. "You sir could make many of girls swoon back home. Now then shall we?"

He would have blushed if he could have, but instead he gave her a big grin and held his hand out towards the door indicating for her to lead the way. "After you."

Allyndra lead the way to the holodeck and then stopped just inside. She wondered briefly where to set the scene and decided that something more familiar to Lamar would be best. She selected a spot in a place called San Diego and then beckoned Lamar to enter.

They found themselves on a warm late spring day on a tall cliff overlooking the ocean. Several people were hang gliding already using the wind blowing off the ocean and forced upward by the cliffs. It made it easy as the breeze was steady and one side toward the East was all grassy and down the West side was soft beach and water.

A set of hand gliders lay neatly in a row, bobbing in the breeze but tied for now. Allyndra was glad she picked this one, for almost all one had to do was get into the harness and let some of the rope that kept them down out. The breeze would do the rest. In fact, a couple of others were getting their 'wings' a little further down with an instructor teaching holding a rope to one glider like a gigantic kite.

Allyndra took the band from her hair and shook it loose and the impulse to spread her wings and fly was almost too great. She would but reminded herself that she had asked Lamar here. She turned, "Are you ready? Would you like me to teach or one of the others?"

Lamar looked at the basic hang gliding contraption and shrugged, not sure what to make of it. "Is it hard?" he asked. Judging from the other gliders he could see, it looked like one of the more basic methods of flying. Surely if he could pilot a Waverider supersonic shuttle, a little glider wouldn't give him much trouble? Then again, it could be a deceptively tough challenge. He wasn't sure.

"Not really, here let me show you." Allyndra picked on the gliders and then hoisted it. It was easy being both light and already with the constant breeze almost to lift.

"You put your hands here on the bar, then run a little into the wind and when you lift put your feet into the rear harness. Shift your weight slightly side to side to turn that direction, forward to go down and back to go up. Landing is the hardest actually as you have to judge your speed and then pull out of the leg harness and put your feet down and catch up running. Worse is head for the ocean. Here, this is a parachute cord that will deploy taking you loose control."

Allyndra knew that with her weight as soon as she turned into the wind it would take little, "Now just run along while I do..." she turned the glider and only had to take three to four strides before the wind pulled the glider into the air and she tucked her feet into the harness. She kept the angles low not going that high so Lamar could observe and then making a long sweep around angled downward and then did as she had instructed and pulled her legs free and ran tipping the glider slightly forward so that the wind would hit the glider material broadside and act as a spoiler.

Watching with his arms folded across his chest, Lamar observed Allyndra's takeoff, banking, and finally the delicate landing. "Not bad," he remarked when she came to a stop. "Looks easy enough," he added, also knowing that the holodeck safeties were engaged so if he did end up nosediving into the ground or ocean, at least he wouldn't splatter.

Allyndra held the machine with the front edge down to keep it on the ground while Lamar came over and looked with a questioning look, "Ready to try?"

"Sure." He came over and grabbed the bars like she'd shown then began to run with the glider into the wind until he felt the wings generate enough lift to tug at his body and try to pull it upwards into flight. Trying his best to quickly lift up his feet into the harness, it took a couple of attempts and for a brief moment one foot dangled down while he attempted to get the sneaker tucked snugly in place. Finally he was able to secure both legs in their proper rests, and his hang glider briefly wobbled in the air while he attempted to sort out the way the flight controls worked as Allyndra had just explained and demonstrated.

Allyndra watched winced as he struggled but the wind was good and he finally got settled in without stalling the contraption. As for her, now it was time to enjoy the sky in her own way. She turned and ran to cliff edge and like an Olympic diver dove of the edge letting her momentum carry her away from the ragged edge before snapping the great translucent wings open and catching the wind.

She wanted to head toward the water but instead leaned and turned to head back toward Lamar. She spotted him wobbling slightly but still in the air. A few good strokes of her wings and she caught up with him.

"YOU ARE DOING GOOD!" She shouted in encouragement. "Put your hands wider on the bar and then you will not have so many little movements. Once you do that, shift your shoulders so your center moves to the left." Allyndra mimicked what she wanted him to so and with that later she veered to the left and toward the stronger wind coming up from the ocean. That would give them a lot of altitude but it also meant lots of room to maneuver without worrying so much.
