Oliver sat on the floor of the Commodore's Officer. He was tired but active. Stifling a yawn he picked up another PaDD and began reading over his report. Tapping out a few more edits. He put the device on the desk and began to clean up just as the doors to the office opened. Oliver stood at attention when Commodore entered. "I have compiled my official mission report. Also, the recent ship's statuses have been forwarded to you from Command."

Lirha had just returned from a late lunch and was immediately assaulted by status reports from her yeoman when she entered her administrative office. Of course, she couldn't blame him. It was his job, after all. And it was in turn her job to process those reports and forward all pertinent information to Starfleet. But...if only her duties weren't so mundane...

"Thank you, Mister Morris," she replied with a polite yet forced smile. "I'll send it through to Task Force Command within the hour. Have there been any other transmission received of any particular interest?" she asked, wondering if Starfleet had sent Galileo any sort of communications aside from the standard crew family data packages.

Oliver fished through his collection of PaDDs and found the corresponding one that monitored communications. "There was a message from your sister Livana. I had it sent to your quarters and my ex decided to tell me that he and his husband are now the proud parents of a new Pomeranian." He paused, "It's a breed of dog. Small ankle biters."

"Commodore, can I ask you a question?"

"Yes, go ahead," Lirha replied. The news of a communication from her older sister was very strange mostly due to the fact neither had spoken to each other in several years. Not necessarily because of any particular differences, but rather due to the transient nature of Livana's lifestyle which constantly moved her around the quadrants.

Leaning his lower back against the Commodore's desk he crossed his arms. Brooding over his words, Oliver finally said, "Commodore, I've been an Aide de Camp for many years now and, I feel after being on board the Galileo for some time that I may need to stretch a bit."

Oliver stood up straight and started to pace the room, "I am proficient in piloting shuttles and on my last posting I had taken the Starship Helm Proficiency test. In other words, I was wondering if it is possible that I may be added to the helm roster. Don't get me wrong, I love being your assistant but running reports starts to wear thin. Especially when you've been doing it for so many years. What I mean is I would remain your Yeoman but if they need me to take over the Helm, for whatever reason. I would be available."

Listening to the yeoman's proposal, Lirha really couldn't find any fault with the request. In fact, it made sense to her that the monotonous nature of administration sometimes needed to be broken up, and a good way to achieve that break would be for the young man to undertake different duties. Giving him a light shrug, she addressed his request.

"I do not have a problem with you working conn shifts. However, I am not the CO nor CFCO, so you would have to run your request by them for approval. I believe Commander Mialin is currently on the bridge, and perhaps Captain Holliday is in his ready room?" She wasn't quite sure about Holliday's whereabouts, but the ready room was a good starting place.

Oliver smiled, "Thank you Commodore. If you don't need me for anything I will head to the bridge." When Saalm gave him the go ahead, Oliver left the officer. When entered the bridge he headed to the Ready Room first. But not before saying hello to Dea.

Dea was currently on the bridge finishing up a quick task before heading down to her office. So far it had been a very busy shift. But that was quickly becoming a common thing for her days. Checking various data at the Flight Control console she made a few notes.

"I hear you've been strapped for good pilots," Oliver said casually.

Turning her head at the sound of Oliver's voice, "That is a good observation. I'm splitting my time between two key roles on this ship and we always get into a crunch when things get busy anyway."

"I spoke with the Commodore, if it's okay with you and the Captain. I would like to take a few shifts for you," Morris smiled. "I've had training and am proficient in piloting. So, if you need me I'm your man."

With a nod Dea smiled, "Believe me I don't have any issues with it. As long as all your certifications are current. However as the Commodore stated you're also have to be approval from our Captain, even though I fully support the idea."

"I am about to do that right now." Oliver smiled and turned toward the Ready Room Door. He pressed the door chime.

"Come." John replied, absentmindedly flicking through pages on a PADD reviewing the last lot of atmospheric surveys from the planet below. A cup of barely warm raktajino stood on his desk - untouched in the past half an hour and allowed to cool to room temperature. Sooner rather than later it would be finding it's way back into the replicator to be replaced with something a little warmer.

Oliver walked in. "Afternoon, Captain. I want to ask you a question. I heard that the Galileo is short on pilots and I was wondering if you could use my services. I am trained and certified and, I wouldn't mind taking on some graveyard shifts."

John didn't want to say that he had better things to be worrying about, however true it might have been, and instead remained silent for a moment, reading through the end of the page he was currently examining before laying the PADD on the table.

"I presume you have already discussed it with Miss Mialin?"

"Yes sir, I did and with Commodore Saalm both are okay with it as long as you are and my pilot accreditation is up to date. Which it is." He nodded. "I am not asking for much. Piloting during the Gamma shift would be fine. As long as it doesn't interfere with my work with the Commodore."

John didn't really have anything to object to - if a Flag Officer and the department head had both agreed to the change of duties, or at least expansion of duties, there wasn't much that the Captain could bring to bear as an objection, and really, he was happy to see his crew having so much desire to cross train.

"Very well Petty Officer. Request approved - make sure you submit the appropriate paperwork across my desk?"

"I will sir and thank you."
