Mission: Episode 05 - Solstice
Location: USS Galileo - Observation Lounge
Timeline: MD 58 - 1300 hrs

ON:

Allyndra was having an afternoon break and sipping on the overly sweetened black leaf tea. It was an oolong tea and she had come to enjoy the rich flavor even if she put a lot of sugar in it.

The deck was much more intact than the first time she visited but one could still see the touches of work in progress and the brightness and smell indicated just how new it was.

While on shore leave she had not really thought much about her regular work, the routine had gone right out the door. Now that she was back though and getting sickbay in order it reminded her that she was in a different organization. The pace of her first stint on this ship had been hectic and tiring, but right now, other than a few injuries as people returned, a few recheck ins and that kind of stuff she actually had time to do a break like this. The doors opened to the deck and she almost choked on her tea. She recognized the man there that she had not seen for quite some time. Allydndra waved to try to catch Pendleton's attention.

Jacob had been jogging around the corridors to clear his mind; this was a bit unusual since jogging was never a high priority in his physical training, but he was up for something different today.

As he thought about many a thing he noticed someone trying to wave him down, that someone was the lovely Allyndra and so he slowed down and walked towards her. "Commander, it is good to see you again. Shouldn't you be enjoying shore leave this day?" He gave her a bright smile.

She could easily see that his muscular form had gotten even more muscular than when he left, as if he had been training and working out much harder than his already growing legacy of those who knew his workout regimen.

"Oh please you should know by now it is just Allyndra." She said feeling slightly embarrassed over the title. She could not but help admire the more muscular and even more trim figure then when she had last seen him.

"So someone has used their time away to good effect I see?" She waved a hand at him and then indicated the opposite chair. "Could I pull you away from your run and ask to see what you have been up to lately?"

"Of course!" He smiled and looked at the chair offered. He saw a more "solid" chair and quickly replaced it with the current chair then sat down "What have I been up to? Well.. lets just say taking my frustrations over the encounter we just had with the space zombies by doing hard, physical labor back home on my family's farm. What about you? How has the ever awesome Allyndra been doing?"

"Awesome, I think you give me way too much credit. I went home, to Akkadia that is. It was not so much a home coming trip as with a purpose in mind." She did not mention her side trip earlier with Lamar to Philadelphia.

"I suppose the only thing really nice about the trip was I was not among a bunch of people that thought imbibing blood was odd. Oh! I forgot, the Assistant Chief went along. Have you met him yet?"

Jacob shook his head, "I haven't met anyone; although I am very excited for meeting all the new folks and getting back into the swing of things. I SO need to get back into the swing of things."

Allyndra nodded. "An interesting Bolian," she continued and then switched to his new more physical physique.
"Now running, that is something I need to get back into. It is something I used to do just to get the old hearts pumping. Fancy a running partner?"

"Actually, running is rare for me believe or not. I do it to change up the routine. I usually work out in the gym or one of my many holodeck programs. Still, I would love to have someone to work out with, spar with and hang out with so please feel free to join me. It sometimes gets boring, even when I am running my pro wrestling holosim, I would like to have a REAL audience." He smiled at her. He then thought a moment and said, "I think I need a drink, want to get one at the new lounge?"

Allyndra nodded. "I would be honored to help out, not sure about the sparing though, a bit lightly built for that but I can try." She looked into her cup and then decided it was empty enough. "That sounds great." She set the cup to the side and stood. "I must say, I am glad to see you back." She stopped and made a coy smile. "Race you to the lounge," she said suddenly.

"Hey! No fair!" Jacob had to literally jump out of his chair as Allyndra raced out the door. He took off after her, his pace quickening rapidly. The corridor was happily empty; if he ran into someone now he might send them to the infirmary for weeks!

Allyndra sprinted suddenly. If it was a longer race she had no doubt who would win but this was not that far but still, a system designed for maintaining the ability to fly gave her an edge even though she was a bit out of practice.

She laughed a little but then slowed slightly. "I suppose I should not do such things, I might run into someone and it would do no good for the doctor to laid up in her own sickbay would it?"

Jacob quickly caught up with her and slowed down quickly as well. He gently poked her in the side to slightly tickle her and fast paced walked right by her. "Looks like Imma gonna get there first..." He stuck his tongue at her and kept fast walking down the corridor getting ever closer to the lounge door.

Allyndra just laughed. She let him go on ahead. It was good to see him in such a good mood. As she reached the door she said, "Not if the corridor was big enough, it might be tiring but flying is such a good way to cover ground."

She entered and noted the lounge was looking better than when she talked to the Intel officer. Allyndra decided to tease back just a little. "So what can I get you? Type A, Type B, Type W though personally that copper based stuff leaves a funny aftertaste."

Jacob raised his right eyebrow and then said in a playful tone, "Well... I've been told that O negative tastes like battery acid so I think I would rule that out and instead just take my usual: Orange Creme soda." He then looked around the room and it felt bigger and more like a real lounge then it was before. "I can't wait to test the acoustics of this new space. It looks like a great layout. I like it. What do you think about the new lounge?"

"What? You must have gotten something Bolian in there. Tried it once and oh my, I thought I would never get the taste out. Alright, orange crme soda it is, in fact I think that sounds delightful as well." Allyndra went to get the beverages and then returned before answering Jacob's last question.

"I think it is an improvement. Call me old fashioned but sometimes I just like things to stay the same. So I take it your back in duty in science again?"

"I am and pleased to be back. I have missed all this more than one can imagine." Jacob had a moment of a far away look but it passed quickly.

"Excellent! Mind if I ask a little favour?"

"For you, anything... well, I don't do anything involving children or small animals." He laughed and gave her a wink.

"This is neither. Did you know I went home to Akkadia?"

Jacob shook his head.

"I didn't suspect you would. However, it was more than just a somewhat more than a stiff formal visit like most of them were. We, Akkadian's are gifted or rather I should say we gained the gift from some brilliant research, the ability to regenerate. I got permission to try to figure out how it was done and we tried the technique on Kohl. It seemed to at least partially work but the genes we, that is Doctor Mott and I, inserted were all rejected eventually."

Allyndra made a shrug but she looked pensive as well. "I was hoping to help restore him and others that had been assimilated back to full health."

Jacob drank down the tasty soda and then replied, "You should be commended for your willingness to fully restore any who were assimilated. Anything you need that my office has, any resources I can get you, are yours. You have my absolute support Allyndra."

"Thank you. I will send over the data for you to look at including the background information I got from Akkadia. Perhaps you will see something or have some insight as to where I did not accomplish the goal." Allyndra then took a sip of the orange crme soda. It was tart and tangy and the bubbles tickled.

"Delightful!" She exclaimed. She talked a little more about her trip home and what he had been up to. The talk was small and just as delightful as the soda was.
