[ON]

Luke had been thinking a lot about Abbey recently and how glad he would be to see her again. That then led to him thinking about Blake and her daughter Lily. Picking himself up of the bed he moved over to the replicater and scrolled through the catergories. After a lengthy search he found the perfect thing for Lily. A toy dragon to go with Lieutenant Patch the bear he had found half burnt in the wreckage after the day the Borg attacked the ship. He also quickly thought that maybe lieutenant Blake would appreciate something spruce up her already decorated room and quickly picked off some flower.

Smiling happily to himself he materialised the toy and took it form the alcove slipping it into a rucksack before slinging it over his shoulder and trotting out of the room.

It didn't take to long to be outside Blake's Quarters and ringing the door chime he waited outside keeping the dragon toy inside its vessel.

"Come in!" Scarlet called out distractedly, half bent over the low table to try and gather up the books Lily had conveniently forgotten to tidy up before going off to wash her hands. Funny that. Between work and Lily, it was difficult to keep on top of the quarters too.

Luke hesitated before walking in, he wasn't one-hundred percent sure what he was going to say. Oh hey been thinking off your daughter so brought this. Great lets try to freak her out. he argued in his head before stepping through and into the room. "Morning/afternoon urm, lieutenant" He said breaking a smile. Observing her he could see that she was tidying up some children's books. The moment reminded him of abbey. "Need some help?" He asked pushing the flowers in front of him.

Scarlet watched him with surprise when she saw the flowers. She smiled, shaking her head lightly as she set the books up on the book case. "Are you on the way to see a sweetheart?"

Luke shot an embarrassed look towards Blake. "No...no sweetheart as far as I am aware." He tilted the flowers towards her "these are actually for you" he bit the inside of his cheek. "And I urm brought something for lily to" he admitted shrugging the shoulder strap of his rucksack.

Scarlet looked, the surprise clear in her eyes as she took the flowers, smiling. "They're beautiful," she took a breath close to smell them. "I can't remember the last time I got flowers, thank you. Lily!" she called out.

"Hm?" Lily came strolling out of her bedroom, holding a book close to her chest, the one she'd just been looking at on her bed. She smiled when she saw they had a visitor. "Luke," she said quickly, to show she remembered his name.

Luke was glad that the flowers went down well and he was also happy that Lily remembered his name, he hadn't thought that she might even forget him. "Hey Lily, been causing any trouble lately?" He asked with a grin.

"Noooooo," she shook her head with wide eyes, but a smile all the same. "I've been good."

"Mostly," Scarlet winked as she moved to put the flowers in a vase, taking care to arrange them to look their best. "Can I get you anything, Luke?"

"No, well a water would be nice" He admitted, the whole situation he had put himself in had an unknown side effect and he wasn't sure why. "So lily, i got you and Lieutenant Patch a friend!" He said tugging of his bag and placing it on the table tapping it.

"Oh!" Lily moved forward with excitement, grinning as she leant on her elbows on the table. "Can I look? Please? Can I?"

Scarlet set the drinks down for them all before sitting at the table, arching an eyebrow to Luke to assure him it was fine with her.

"Of course! It is for you after all!" He said picking up his water and looking from Lily to Blake and after back to lily who was now highly excited. "I think You'll love it" He smiled.

Lily opened the bag up carefully, biting her lip as she looked inside. "A dragon! I love dragons!" she hugged it close before giving it a kiss on the head.

"As if we didn't know that..." Scarlet teased lightly, but with a soft smile.

"Ahhh, It's nothing!" He said happy that she liked the toy "Besides there's not many people on this ship you can go out of your way and make their lives a little bit happier" He said turning to Scarlet and a soft smile developing on his lips.

Scarlet nodded with understanding. It had been a difficult time for all of them. Testing. Lily had taken it in her stride from what she'd been told, and she was thankful for it. "That's usually my job."

Luke shrugged. "Well that's true enough but who looks after the counsellor when she needs help, not that I think you need help but... Ya know" He turned his face away shyly before looking to Lily who was enjoying the new toy.

"Well, this counsellor looks after herself," Scarlet replied with a small smile of amusement. "She's rather good with a rifle after all."

Throwing his hands up in defence as if he had been caught doing something in the act, "I never said you wasn't, but even the very best had their partners, like batman and robin for example!" Luke wasn't sure where this conversation was going or if she'd even get the connection. He wasn't really to bothered spending time with scarlet and lily reminded him of a much simpler time.

"Batman and Robin?" Lily asked with confusion, her head perking up at that. "A bat-man?"

Luke chuckled "Not quiet exactly a bat-man but he was this made up rich guy that goes out at night to fight crime. His symbol is a bat and he is known as batman. His sidekick is robin!"He looked to scarlet "I think the next gifts are comic books!" He joked. "Lily, what i was trying to say was that even the bestest, biggest and baddest person needs a sidekick or a partner they can rely on"

Lily thought about it, her lips pressed together, just like her mother did when she was thinking. She hadn't understood all of what he said, but she was musing on what she had understood. "But not pirates," she shook her head, lifting her arm in the air. "Argh!"

"If she is not going to be a dragon flyer when she grows up, she's going to be a pirate," Scarlet explained, with a mock serious tone and expression.

"A very bold and exciting aspiration for anyone" Luke returned in the same mock serious tone though his came with a smile "But even Pirates needs mates that's why they always have a parrot" He winked.

"Ooooo!" Lily suddenly smiled brightly at the idea it popped into her head. "Can I have a parrot?"

"No," Scarlet laughed, shaking her head as she rolled her eyes. "You may not have a parrot. Or a dog. Or a cat. Or anything that is alive."

Luke crossed his arms and looked to Scarlet "And why is she not allowed a parrot, dog, cat or anything else living?" He teased looking down to Lily and winking before casting his eyes back to Scarlet.

"Because I have quite enough living things to take care of," Scarlet replied promptly, but with a good natured smile, meaning nothing by it.

"I can do it!" Lily smiled oh so innocently, resting her chin in her hands.

"Hm," Scarlet shook her head with a small smile, sipping her drink slowly. "Until it is boring. No, one little pirate dragon to look after on a ship is quite enough, thank you."

Luke thought for a moment "What If I keep a pet and Lily would happen to just bring it home?" He liked the bond between the scarlet and Lily he especially liked taking sides with lily.

"Yeah!" Lily grinned, pushing her hands up in the air with triumph.

"No!" Scarlet laughed softly, shaking her head and holding her hand out. "Nuh uh. That's an out of the work. Thanks for the offer though. A little fluffy puppy would suit you," she teased.

Luke laughed, it was defiantly a different debate he was used to having "Well... I am thinking of the cutest black Labrador puppy" he turned to lily "Any names you like lily?" He asked.

"If you get a dog, then it's yours. It doesn't come back here and Lily doesn't choose the name," Scarlet said softly, shaking her head as she set her glass down. "Labradors our good dogs. Loyal and intelligent."

"Hey... A bit like me then!" He joked, "Fine the dog if i decide to get one will not come back here but I atleast think Lily should be allowed a little bit of a pick of the name? Please? I'll be extra good in our next counsellor meeting" Never he told himself.

"No, you won't," Scarlet replied knowing, shaking her head with a small smile of amusement. She didn't need to be a telepath to know he was lying. Blatantly. "She can help you pick a name, that's all."

Luke eye'd Scarlet for a moment before smiling "Fine, You're a tough nut when it comes to negotiating, just another amazing quality of the great Commander Blake" He teased.

"Well when there's no diplomats around, sometimes counsellors have to give it a go," she replied back, her lips curling at the corner. "Besides, Lily understands there are rules. Especially on a ship," she added the last in a soft, quiet voice, not particularly intended for Lily.

Resisting the urge to say the famous of all saying 'Rules are meant to be broken' he smiled "Of course there are rules and that's what keeps us safe. "So talking about diplomats and counsellors which you seem to be very good at both jobs, what sort of hours are you on?"

"Mad hours," Scarlet laughed at that, shaking her head as she rubbed her knee. "As Second Officer, I pull bridge duty shifts. As Chief Counsellor, I also work hours in the office, but those are more flexible now."

He nodded "Would I be able to take some of that frilling time from your hands for you to join me for a coffee? Or something if you don't drink coffee?" Luke said shyly.

"Oh I drink coffee. I pretty much drink it, live on it, dine on it, bathe in it..." Scarlet laughed softly, shaking her head as she let out a long breath. "It sounds good. I always like an hour or so after work now and then if I can get it."

Luke smiled before saying cheerfully "brilliant! Well I mean yeah that's cool. it doesn't have to be set in stone or if you want it brought to you on the bridge" he shrugged as if it was nothing to him. "Just whenever"

"Whatever," Scarlet repeated with mild mimickery, a playful look in her eyes before nodding with a smile. "It will be good to catch a break," she assured to soften the teasing.

"Great! Well I'll just pop on by, make it a bit spontaneous?" He asked rhetorically "Mix it up and makes it better I think! Anyway, I best be off. I've got things to do and not doubt you do to. Its been nice seeing you... both, seeing you both"

"No problem, keep safe out there," Scarlet replied, the tip of her finger to her brow before pointing to him.

"Bye bye, Luke!" Lily smiled warmly up to him, waving the pen in her hand and then taking the dragon to make it 'wave' too.

Waving back to Lily and smiling before nodding in the direction of Blake "See you both around" He back peddled out of the door before turning and making his way down the corridor. Did I just ask her to coffee? Luke asked himself.
