USS Galileo - Transporter Room 1

"Alpha team, proceed." Lirha gave the command for the first rescue party to step up onto the transporter pad and beam over to the cube. "Bring Commander Holliday home safely. Godspeed." she gave them all a reassuring smile before stepping back and waiting for them to be transported.

Now that Keval had an assignment he was feeling better and feeling better about himself. He was still somewhat self-conscious having just one antennae but he was half-human almost, at least culturally so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

He stepped up on the pad a determined look on his face.

Dea took her place on the transporter pad with a nod to Saalm. Despite the knot in her stomach she knew they had a very important and dangerous task ahead.

Mormont walked in and let out a breath, getting onto the transporter pad. As he was a Security person, he was armed to the teeth...including a sword. Perhaps more inspired from tales of Klingons taking on Borg more than anything else. Still, the weight was reassuring.

Sylver arched an eyebrow, frowning as he took in the people they had here. A good team. He stepped up on the padd, arms folded as he frowned.

Stepping to the very last transporter PADD, Rhyan took a steadying breath. She was not suited to away missions, but she would do her best to keep up. The weight of the phaser was steadying to her nerves; at least she knew it would serve her well.

Willis looked over the group and smiled at Rhyan, seeing the uneasiness. "Shoot straight and come home." He then started the beam out process. "Energizing."

Borg Cube - Subjunction 15, Grid 0-1, Central Plexus

The central plexus of the cube oozed with darkness. Every panel, every walkway, every alcove seemed to hum with the raw dark power of the Collective. The number of drones here was extremely limited - only the most highly rated Borg were permitted clearance to the Plexus, and only then for as long as it would take them to complete their assigned task.

In the darkness, broken only by the poor green hued illumination, the occasional sign of activity came from the red laser mounted upon a drone's eyepiece, and the mechanical whirring of implants as the pale-skilled machines moved from point to point.

Upon the completion of transport there was simply silence - no alarms, no forcefields energising, nothing. The drones in the area seemed oblivious to the presence of the Away Team, whether or not that was because they were not yet a threat, or because they were truly blind to the strange presence inside their most inner sanctum.

After Dea materialized on the Borg cube her first task was to get a good look around. They needed to work quickly yet meticulously to achieve their objective. She signaled the rest of Alpha team to move out.

Keval nodded at the team leader and followed closely behind her. He phaser was in a holster in the small of his back easily accessible if he needed it. In his hand he held his weapon of choice, one that the former Chief of Security had tried to take away from him. It was a wicked looking knife that was far from regulation but quite deadly, a razor sharp double edged carbon fiber blade one edge slightly curved and thin, the other straight and serrated.

Mormont too was armed with an unconventional weapon, yet his was not drawn. Instead, he had his hands free, the projectile rifle over his shoulder. He looked around, taking in all he could. Details. Sounds. This place was creepy, going against every human instinct. Perhaps it is what was most frightening; the machinery adding something wrong to it all. It went against all that made a man human.

Rhyan held her phaser ready, hanging back so she would have the most time to find a good shot, should they be discovered. In her free hand she held a tricorder to scan the area for their objective.

As they made their way deeper into the Central Plexus Dea had her phaser in hand.
Given the situation she wanted to be ready to react. She kept a close eye on the rest of her team. The instant they had an idea where their objective was located they needed to carry out their duties. Briefly her attention shifted to the others to see if anyone had picked up anything yet.

Keval pulled a tri-corder from his belt with his free hand. "Ma'am," he said in a stage whisper, "I believe we need to head that way. Our...target is about 15 meters from us around the corner there."

Dea nodded, "We'll follow that signal. Let me know if anything changes. Do we have readings on the others?"

"Nothing definite." he replied cocking his head slightly. "All this damned Borg circuity seems to be interfering with our readings. I've been able to compensate for it short range, but the best way to describe it is anything beyond 20 meters is garbled. I'll see what I can do to clear it up once we find Commander Holiday."

Mormont nodded before looking around, taking it all in. "Ma'am, should we split up and have two of us try and break the hive mind connection?" he asked quietly.

"Only if it doesn't compromise our primary objective. That's a secondary goal," she reminded him quietly.

"Yes Ma'am," he said quietly, moving with the team. They were closing in on their target.

"If we get more info on the others then we'll need you're help with that as well," Dea replied softly. Bringing her team to a stop a short distance later. Quickly looking at each member to see if they were ready.

Rhyan jumped at the feeling of someone's eyes on her, ducking her head in embarrassment when she realized it was just one of the others from the Galileo. She wasn't jumpy, honestly.

Oliver frowned, holding himself ready with the hypo. They would be able to do this, but they had to act now.

Keval was as cool as native world, at least that was the image he tried to project. Inside though he was anxious. He'd already lost one antennae to the damned Borg and truth be told they scared him.

"I'm ready, let's do this," he said.

Dea simply nodded signaling the team to break off as indicated so they could approach and surround their target from more than one side. From here they had to move quickly. She continued forward knowing there was no turning back.

Legatus was firmly locked into a regeneration cycle. With the drone's masters currently exploring diplomatic relations with the Federation starship there was no need for this drone to be active. Instead it had returned to its alcove amongst fellow drones to rest.

The Collective however was becoming distorted - Legatus could no longer hear the voices of a few drones. They had simply disappeared from it's influence. Curious, it began to investigate with the Collective's substantial computing abilities.

Oliver frowned as he looked over at Dea, and then to Legatus. He saw that the drone was regenerating. Therefore, vulnerable. He moved forward, slowly, the hypo ready. It was strange, seeing...what a Borg looked like, up close.

Dea quickly nodded for Oliver to continue as she covered him. Signaling the rest of her team to be extra cautious. They needed to locate the missing Venture personnel as well.

Oliver moved forward, 'tagging' Legatus for the next beamout, looking over at Dea. "I'll stay with him," he whispered softly. "Get the rest of the people we need."

"How many others do we have left?" Keval asked, "I don't want to leave anyone behind, but we are running out of time."

"Four," Dea responded, "Yes we are so we need to hustle." Starting to move to continue their search. "Let me know as soon as we have other signals."

Dea's combadge activated with some static present in the transmission. =^=Lieutenant Mialin, this is Wi..s. Your si..al is fad...g. .....rry up ma'am.=^=

When the call came in Dea was already injecting the closest Venture crew member they could find. She moved onto a second one while directing the rest of her team to see to the final two. They managed to accomplish their primary objective before the team had to call for a final beam out. Contacting Galileo, "Alpha Team to Galileo beam us back to the ship."

=^=Four seconds, Sir.=^= said Willis. =^=Energizing.=^=
