Running was not the same as flying, but it did serve to distract from other concerns. Allyndra at least ws not bothered by the itch in her back. It felt good to feel her hearts pumping, the deep breaths, it always made her feel more alive. She would have prefered a running partner, but while many could keep her pace, they could not keep it for as long as she could. Everyone had thier abilities, and their liabilities and Allyndra could not help
but watch and be envious of the men lifting weights. Endurance was one thing, but Allyndra was literally a lite weight.

Luke stretched tiresomely inside his office stroke bedroom he had been given it during his chance encounter with the ships chief intelligence office who he had taken a warming to. He was wearing the same exercise clothing he had been for the last couple of days. It was a jumble of items which composed of a light grey tank top that had 'Remain calm trust in science' printed in large black lettering on its back though it was now somewhat faded, dark blue short's and finally a mismatch pair of trainers. All of which he had either begged, borrow or stole. Mostly the latter.

Stepping out of his office he stretched his arms before running heavily on the spot of ten seconds counting down loudly in his mind. Stopping and giving himself a mental pat on the back to boost his enthusiasm. He stepped forward readying himself to run.

Allyndra quit and headed out. It would do no good to concern herself over what might not be. She was so deep in thought she never even bothered to note who it was that impacted when she was not paying attention.

It felt like a whirlwind and she was swept off her legs only instinct to relax her muscles to go with the blow saved her from injury but a loud "ooommph" escaped her lips.

Luke had not seen the other person come around the corner with such speed though he had miraculously came out of the collision with but a sore gut from where an unusual mass laid upon. Coughing and trying to recover still shocked by the sudden explosion of chaos Luke stifled a laugh before laying back down as the Doctors face became apparent. "That hurt, are you okay?"

Allyndra lay for second and then began to test herself. Everything seemed alright though she was more shaken than hurt. She nodded her head, "The ground is a harsh mistress, she teaches her lessons well," she recited the old line. Then realizing he would not understand and that she had not been watching. "My apologies my head was in the clouds."

"Its fine, it was more shock than force that knocked me over." He began to shuffle from underneath her and helped himself up of the floor before aiding the doctors efforts. "What's this mistress business about?"

Allyndra laughed lightly though it hurt slightly after the impact. "A saying on my world." She got up and offered a hand. "We have wings at times and not learning the currents of the air, the move of the storm, well......." Allyndra took her two hands and with one held palm upward she took the other and brought it down hard to make a smacking sounds. "One learns how to fall or take an impact quickly or one ends up with broken bones. While I love being able to fly, it makes me wish I could be as strong as that man there." She pointed to the man lifting weights. "Not much good in a fight."

Luke frowned "Dont be stupid! You could easily beat him, he would be slow and easily dodged until you wore him out and then it would be simply knocking the guy down with a boink on the head" He smiled, "You have speed and agility on your side which is just as good as size and strength!" Luke leaned in as if to tell her a secret "Sometimes being quick and agile is better"

Allyndra smiled nicely but she did not believe for a moment. "I am glad you think so..." She tried to think the name. "Luke correct?"

He nodded. "Yup! Hey if you need some help with self defence or fighting techniques I can show you a few things?"

"Would you care to run first and then perhaps you might be able to show me something that would help? Oh and speaking of boink remind me to tell you about a certain Klingon classmate back at the Academy, after you sir."

"Sure, I was just of out anyway" Luke stopped of and began jogging down the corridor with Allyndra along his side "If you dont mind me asking? You're Akkadian right? How do you... Ya know, get past the whole blood thing?"

Allyndra almost stumbled as the question came out. There were few that knew about that and only those that she told. Akkadians off planet she could probably count on one or perhaps at most two hands. That would be something she would have to ask him about, but first she responded, "The Federation allows me so much transfusion grade when I need it."

Luke had wondered if he had hit a nerve but after she replied he just frowned and carried on running along side her. He could feel the pace but continued to push himself after her whilst beads of sweat dropped of his fringe.

They ran in silence for a bit. Allyndra looked over at the sergeant and noted the sweat. "Let's circle back to the gym and perhaps you can show me something more than the instructors at the Academy could."

Feeling somewhat defeated he smiled "Ofcourse I'd love you!" Frowning somewhat reconsidering the words "Well not like that I enjoy fighting or love.. urgh whatever" He shook his head and continued to jog alongside her.

As they jogged along Allyndra slowed her pace slightly, there was no reason to 'show off', for everyone had their particular physiological prowess along with failings. She started to talk.

"Back when I was at Academy there was this Klingon girl. She used to boast that no one could out run a Klingon so I challenged her. She did a fine job but I ended up beating her. She got all huffy and then challenged me to a fight. I refused of course, but she kept insisting. She finally caught up with me one day along with some of her friends. I grabbed a rock and took to the air and then put that rock right here," Allyndra pointed to her forehead. "She went down in a daze and all her other Klingon friends laughed and told her she had been bested. We became pretty good friends after that but I had the advantage of open space and wings which I do not now have. Hence why I ask you to teach me something."

Luke couldn't help but laughed "I can see why having wings is a good strategy however like you said you wont have the ability but you can easily out move your opponent, I wont teach you to fight but to defend yourself" He gave her a slight smile but concentrated more on the running part.

"That will work," Allyndra slowed her pace deliberately but not at such a rate that it would be too obvious. She also deliberately began to circle around back to the gym as well eager to learn at least something.

It took a few minutes but the gym presented itself again and she pointed it out. "Got a little more time to show me something?"

Luke was glad the gym was just round the corner he was by all means 'hanging out of his hooter' from the run with the Allyndra. "Sure - Just two - Moments" He said between breaths. After a minute he had mostly regained control of his breathing and smiled "Shall we get down to it hen?" He asked before proceeding into the centre of the Gym

Allyndra nodded enthusiastically and followed. She waited wondering what they would do exactly. She looked at Luke with an inquiring look.

"Right" Luke started as he began to walk around Allyndra slowly "Because we're facing a particular enemy Ill just act as if I am a Borg. I want you to show me how you'd do now and I will show you to change it, Ready?" He asked walking now behind her.

Allyndra nodded but it was a bit unfair she thought. She knew that he was there and an enemy would seldom make itself known. She waited to see what would happen already balancing on the balls of her feet as though to take flight.

Luke continued to pace until he was now facing Allyndra he punched forward swinging from above just as a Borg would and with his free hand he attached his hand to her neck.

Allyndra saw the movement of the shoulder. It was one advantage of her compound eyes that they were acutely attuned to movement. One hand moved down and the other swept in from the side catching her by the neck. He was fast she thought but she folded her knees twisting against the thumb portion on her neck. On all humanoids it was the weakest part of the grip. She dropped then scrambled out of the way.

"That was not elegant was it?" She asked.

"It was actually, however you are still dead" He replied bluntly before allowing himself to continue "I would have just injected you with Nano-probs and your are now feeling the effects of them coursing through your body, its burning. Your body is starting to shut down not listening to your orders. You're going into shock as green lights began to swirl around your body and then there's nothing but pain"

This time Luke swiped his arm backwards across her midsection and then attempted to grab her arm, "I am easily a fifth of what a Borg strength is and he will not hold back. His aim is to assimilate you not kill you so there is no point fighting offensively or aggressively"

"So what should I do?" Allyndra asked.

"Use my size against me, don't block, deflect. Use your speed and agility. Don't just dodge and recover, Dodge and attack. My slowness is your strength" He allowed himself to become vulnerable by the way he had went to strike her, his sides, ribs and legs even his head if she was quick.

"Alright, let me try again and I will see what I can do to avoid."

Luke nodded and mimicked the previous two attempts swinging his arm high and bring it down towards her head whilst trying to grip her shoulder with his other hand.

Allyndra reacted as soon as she saw the slight movement of the shoulders before even the arms moved. There was enough distance she determined and then took two quick steps toward the Sergeant and leapt. It was just like taking off and she could feel the muscles in her back involuntarily work. Even with this gravity rather than the slightly lighter one of her home world she went over her right foot briefly touching his shoulder and pushing. Allyndra came down lightly and sprinted a few steps then turned.

"Are you alright?" she asked genuinely concerned that she had not hurt him.

Luke had stumbled over and was only winded, "I'm im fine" He lied, ever since he had been rescued he had never fully recovered despite his constant training he was still in his eye's weak. "Just give me a second" Not only his shoulder hurt so did his pride.

Allyndra watched a second or two more before walking back. "Here I am a doctor, you know that, let's take a look." She touched the shoulder and asked, "Now let me move your arm and if you feel any twinges or pain let me know. That is doctor's orders alright?"

Luke rolled his eye's "Sure".

Allyndra moved the arm gently from side to side and then up and down and when she got to a certain point.

"Argh, Right there" He complained as she gyrated his arm, "God damn it" He cursed, muttering under his breath. If there was one thing worst than being injured it was being injured by the person treating you.

"You have an injured rotator cuff. I do not think the push I gave you did this completely but it was a previous injury. Did you hurt it earlier?"

He shrugged, "I may have injured some point during the last few days but if thats the case I didn't notice it" He admitted waiting for the grilling he was probably about to receive.

Allyndra shook her head. "Leaving it can cause worse damage in the long run than hoping it will be better." She put her hands on her slim hips and peered at Luke, "I signed you off but without being able to do a full assessment. Now then you let me take care of that and check you over fully and in return you teach me more." She then took her right hand off her hip and held it out. "Deal?"

Luke could tell that she was being serious despite this he couldn't help but break a smile "Does everyone scratch each others back around here? Next thing you're going to start biting my face of and getting down" He laughed.

Allyndra's look on her face changed in an instant from serious to neutral.
"I refrain from biting others. My needs are met otherwise."

He couldn't help but laugh at her comment, "I never meant it in that way, but anyway that doesn't matter. You have yourself a deal lieutenant!" He held out his good hand ready to shake on it.

"Very good," Allyndra's expression shifted again to friendly yet again, "partner."
