Previously, on A Quick Bite (Part 1)...

Allyndra pulled the wrist to her lips and whispered, "H'oni A'likoa". She kissed the wrist gently with her lips before gently turning it and letting the tiny sharp inner teeth pierce the flesh.

Lamar watched with a sigh of relief as Allyndra regained consciousness, but then frowned when he realized she still wasn't fully herself. He listened to her speak in a strange language, the words of which he couldn't decipher, but raised his eyebrows in surprise when she kissed his wrist. Although she was speaking a different tongue, he understood well enough the universal sign of affection. Suddenly, he felt a pinch like several bee stings on his skin and his body stiffened in reply. What the....

And Now, the Conclusion...

[ON]

He watched, stunned, as her teeth gently sank into his skin, and after a few short moments, the pain had vanished. His mind raced as he tried to make sense of what was happening. One part of him wanted to wrench his arm away from her grasp for his own personal safety, but the other part instinctively told him that she meant no harm, and her actions were somehow a result of her unique biology. Confused and curious at the same time, he finally decided to let her continue.

Allyndra just greedily sucked at the sudden rich flavor. There were those distinct tones of male, but there was a richness, a slight thickness and the tang upon her tongue spoke of health. Gerrin had never tasted like this before.

It didn't take long before a strange wave of euphoria washed over him. He didn't know exactly why, but as her mouth sucked away at his wrist, a very pleasurable sensation sent shivers through him. He let out a shaky breath then closed his eyes for a brief moment before opening them again. The feeling was turning erotic, and at that moment he cared a great deal for her and her happiness. His other free hand began to caress the back of her head, and he ran his dark fingers through her hair while she continued to suckle.

"What's happening...?" he managed to ask her, trying to make sense of both what she was doing to him as well as his own developing feelings.

Gerrin? Her mind slowly processed that. Gerrin was gone. Then who and what was giving this. The richness revived her quickly and her mind refocused on the here and now. That was not Gerrin, but that other man, that human she had met in the Arboretum and she was not there but in her quarters. She could feel the hand in her hair and the other and with a suddenness sat up and pulled his wrist from her mouth.

It was instinct but she pressed her hand against the wound even as she realized what she had done. "Twins forgive me! I am sorry, so sorry."
His name came to her, "Lamar, are you alright?"

Feeling dazed and in a cloudy haze of sleepy euphoria, he slowly nodded in reply. "Yeah...I think so." he paused to contemplate what had just happened and stared at her hand which was now covering his wrist.

"What was that?" he asked, trying to figure out why and how she just bit him, as well as the associated physical and psychological effects he was now feeling. "It felt...good."

Allyndra's hearts beat as fast as if she had made a long journey on wing. This was unforgivable and he had every right to report her. "I will explain, but let me tend to that."

She shifted off the bed and with a gesture told him to remain. She headed for the bathroom and ran water and fetched a towel before returning. Kneeling she took the wrist and then gently wiped it with the water and said, "Hold the towel here for a few more minutes."

She looked up from her position on the floor. "Normally we, Akkadians that is, eat soft fruits, sweet teas and the like but when we need protein especially we are heamatophagic, that is we survive on the blood of others."

He held the towel on his wrist as instructed and looked at her with much curiosity as she explained about her people. He stared blankly at the medical jargon. Hemato...phaser? phasic? he wondered to himself, then suddenly began to understand when she mentioned surviving on blood. "So...you drink blood and it gives you energy? Is that why you..." he flicked his eyes to his wrist then let out a soft yawn. He was feeling strangely tired. "Why do I feel so attached to you now?"

Allyndra's face tightened a little though she felt relief that Lamar had not either assaulted her or run away immediately. "Scientifically there is a series of complex substances in the bite that produce euphoria and desire." She sighed a moment, "A long time ago in times of famine, one's mate would provide his own blood to ensure the next generation, it is thought that the aphrodisiac effect came from that time. Now just a way of helping bond one to the other. It is the "H'oni A'likoa, the Blood Kiss. More ritual than need now."

Lamar laid back on the bed and let his head sink into one of her soft pillows. He was confused yet also intrigued, and looked upon her with fondness. "And we just had a 'blood kiss'? And we're bonded?" he smiled at her at the strange notion, then patted the mattress next to where he lay. "I'm not mad, I promise...come lay down with me. Please."

Allyndra felt the colour rise in her cheeks. "It for one's betrothed or a spouse. I did not know what I was doing." Allyndra waited a moment. She was not sure she should do what he asked but slowly she got up and moved to the other side and then got into the bed. She laid about as far as she could away. There were times in the past she knew that her people had been taken as slaves for that effect.

"Here," she finally said, "Let take a look, I am a doctor." Allyndra pulled the wrist and gently unwrapped the towel. The tiny series of puncture marks no longer wept their red tears. "The wound is no longer bleeding, thus the effect should pass very soon."

He touched her cheek and felt thankful for her attention. She was a nice woman, very sweet and despite her recent physiological lack of self-control, seemed well-intentioned. "Thanks." he mumbled, then closed his eyes and waited for his feelings to revert back to normal like she said. "I bet this is kinda awkward for you..." he added while grinning at the strangeness of the situation.

"Yes, it is. I have only done that to two other persons since being off planet."
Allyndra lay back on the pillows. "One was a relationship that never developed further and the other was to relieve the pain when there was no medications of a dying cadet. You are now the third." Allyndra touched his arm and ran her fingers down it. "Another reason there are so few of us off world. There are those that know of this and Akkadians make tempting targets to certain races that espouse slavery."

Lamar frowned, not fully understanding the implications of what she was attempting to say. "Slavery?" he repeated, then rolled on his side to face her. "You mean, people take you as slaves? Akkadians, I mean. Why?"

"Why?" Allyndra laughed. "Shall I bite you again and longer? Did you not find it pleasurable?"

He considered the thought for a short moment and finally nodded. "Yeah it was nice, I won't lie. But it just seems strange...enslaving someone just to make them bite you? Or...did they do other things, like extract the chemicals that make the feeling?" he shook his head and let out a deep breath. "Never mind. I don't really want to know."

He looked into her sapphire eyes once again and gave her a weak smile. "The good thing about being in Starfleet is that no one will abduct you here."

Allyndra laughed, "Other than Borg but then they would care less about such things." She touched her hand briefly to his face, "You have been wonderfully understanding."

The flood of euphoric chemicals which had previously been pumped into him from Allyndra's bite was now beginning to subside, and he slowly sat up and pushed him back against the headrest where stared out across the bedroom at the far wall. He appreciated the Akkadian's candor, but the mention of Borg abductions suddenly brought a painful feeling which began to swell up inside as he thought about Lilou. "The Borg took my girlfriend during the attack." he said quietly with a bit of numb emotion. "I think they assimilated her."

Allyndra was surprised at that admission and she suddenly felt even more embarrassed over her loss of control. She would not come between someone and their other. She shifted on the bed, but thought it would be impolite to leave so she just moved enough to face Lamar and sat cross legged on the bed. She did pick up one hand and held it.

"Tell me if you wish. I have..." Allyndra thought it best not to use the word Counselor which she had been periodically in the past and just said, "good ear and lots patience."

"I don't know what's to tell," he mumbled, "I checked the casualty list after the attack and she was listed as MIA. When I tried to find her on Galileo using internal sensors, the computer couldn't locate her biosignature." he frowned and absentmindedly stroked his goatee. "I think they took her. And if they took her...probably assimilated her."

He tried his best to imagine a Borg version of Lilou, but somehow his mind couldn't grasp the concept of the little introverted engineer suddenly becoming a menacing member of the Collective. "Her name was Peers. Lieutenant Peers, in Engineering." he finally added.

Allyndra thought through the list of missing and dead. She had the later fully committed to memory. That name was not on the list so thankfully not on the known dead. The name did sound somewhat familiar to her and that meant she was on the missing list and presumed taken by the Borg.

She squeezed Lamar's hand. She then got up and went to replicator for a few moments and then returned with two glasses. "Here," she handed a glass to Lamar. "Just a little herbal tea, you should drink after what happened."

"Herbal tea, huh?" he looked down at the mug in his hand and caught a whiff of the pleasant and steamy aroma, then brought it to his lips and took a long drink. "Thanks."

Allyndra took a sip of hers and then set it down and resumed her position on the bed and pointed with one had toward the holopainting. "That is my home world." The Twins were low in the sky but they stood in High Spring, the yellow and the red side by side. "We call those the Twins. In our mythology, they were once two lovers whom the gods grew jealous of. The gods took them and put them in the sky and separated them so they could not touch anymore but only see each other. Instead of breaking that love, their love only grew until they shone with a magnificence that made even the gods look away."

She looked back at Lamar. "It reminds us that sometimes the universe can play seemingly cruel tricks on us, but it also reminds us that with will we can overcome those obstacles." Allyndra leaned forward and touched Lamar on the cheek. "We will get away and we will get her back for we will defy the gods."

He looked at the picture and listened to the tale of the Twins. It reminded him a bit of ancient Greek mythology from Earth's history, and it was a rather touching and appropriate story considering the circumstances they now found themselves in. "Defy the Borg, you mean." he replied with a wink. "Although...I'm sure there's some race out there who worships them as deities." he smirked, then sighed and focused on the sensation of her fingers on his skin. "Do you think if we can get her back...you can reverse the assimilation? What if they cut off her arm or replaced her eyes? Will she be the same?"

"We got the Captain back and the EMH has the research on how it was done on the Voyager. Thus, it would appear that such things are capable. The Borg acquire but they do not invent and that is their major downfall. A chink in their proverbial armor as it were." Allyndra looked straight into Lamar's eyes.

She again squeezed his hand. "Physically we can reverse most things, there will be psychological damage but those who have come back," she put her other hand on his chest. "Are still the same here, we may just need to love them even more."

She held her one hand there and continued to hold his hand with other one before gently disengaging. She sat back and smiled. "Now then, we both need some rest if we are going to defy the 'gods'." The last with a light laugh.

Lamar gave her a small smile and nodded. It was comforting to know that most of the physical effects of assimilation could be reversed, but he hadn't considered the psychological aspect and trauma of such a transformation. He wondered if he would ever see Lilou again, and if he did, what she would be like.

"Yeah, you're probably right." he reached out and gave her shoulder a light squeeze. "Thanks for listening. If I need a new counselor, I know where to come now." he grinned, then rose from the bed and stretched. "I'll see you soon," he gave her a small wave before heading out of her bedroom and exiting her quarters.

Allyndra made a polite bow of the head. "You are welcome. I was a pleasure to meet you Lamar." She watched him leave. Her thoughts went from the Borg, from their talk and back to just the taste. It still lingered on her palate and she closed her eyes enjoying the very last bit.

So long, so long since she had tasted another and longer even since she had someone to share her bed but he was involved so it would be longer still.

Allyndra got up to prepare for bed and stopped by the picture her husband had done of her in water colours. She touched it briefly and murmured. "Forgive me, I love you still but I hope you would wish me to find another."

Then it was off to prepare for a long needed rest.
