Allyndra sprawled on the bed of her quarters staring at the ceiling.

"Computer please open personal log"

[Personal log open] came the voice of the computer which Allyndra noted seemed to have changed slightly during the refit.

"Well here I am back on the ship and back to being just another cog in the wheels. The trip back to home was not exactly what I expected but then again it came out better than I expected.

I mourn for our loss but that Ryaldi had decided on me as her replacement spoke volumes of the vision she had or that she had come to see. She knew from my past and my present that I would push Akkadia to move from the stagnation of its centuries. Perhaps she realized that I had come to realize myself that one must take small steps not large leaps in the process. We must be much more careful then in the past.

Perhaps it was the tale I told her of that other universe, that there Akkadians had somehow kept what they had without the terrible destruction. None the less her selection of me over the others still floors me and it is even more so that the Council in general agreed to let me leave again. It is unheard of for the Head of a House, let alone one of the major ones to be absent physically. Oh I will have to deal with House and Council business from afar, that responsibility is not been put away.

Of course, some depends on what happens over the course of the year. The ancient right of regency invoking has never really been done without a known heir. I wonder if any of the K'tareth will survive this time and it hurts in my hearts to wonder that as well. To take another chance for hope or will there be that heartbreak once again? It is unknown. The Twins will bless or they will hide their faces.

One day I should tell Lamar as well. I have been avoiding and reluctant to talk to him. The excuse of the symposium and the ship getting ready to depart has worked but will not forever.

Well that will happen sometime. Speaking of loves, the new Chief Science Officer seemed interested at first but seems to have fallen into the arms of someone else. I suppose that is just as well, the last thing I would have needed is another complication to add to the ones there have been.

Oh, that reminds me, I wonder how that Sky Captain that Win cruised with is taking the news that the Council has decided that if she wishes to sail the stars that she had permission to leave and begin to learn. Hopefully she will have a chance to tell Win. From Captain to Cadet seems a big change in rank but I know if she had the inclination that Win indicated she had that it will not seem a loss. As for me, well from exile to Head of House. Mother, the title still sits odd. And who knows? Perhaps a daughter might be there in the future as well and Akkadia will once again see its best part of the past in the future.

Let us hope that we will not make the mistakes as we did then."

Allyndra paused.
