The bargain

Posted on 28 Jan 2016 @ 7:32pm by Commander Allyndra illm Warraquim

365 words; about a 2 minute read

Allyndra sat at the desk in sumptuous quarters. It was not quite that of the Mother of the Guild. It seemed strange to have to write rather than dictate but such things like a computer of that order was still not allowed.

"It seems strange that having know Mother Ryaldi all my life that she is no longer with us. I never appreciated just how much she had to bridge from a nearly completely closed society to moving forward. It was her that pushed me off world knowing how I already viewed things and how much off world would continue to change that out look and yet open my eyes to appreciate the delicate balance that had been struck.

The trip to the mirror universe and seeing that there we had somehow managed to avoid the destruction or at least overcome with a stable society without stopping all our progress or at least putting it all away.

That though is another thing for another day. Mother Ryaldi never knew that but she knew that naming Mother named would have an impact. That was like saying tossing a mountain into the sea would have an impact. As though it was a little thing.

At first, it scared me, for while I love my home, I am not sure I am ready to stay here as well and certainly the Council was nearly apoplectic over it. However, she managed a bridge for me. While she named me as successor there was a clause that will allow me to yet leave here. The Council has been charged as a sort of Interregnum with picking the final successor of House Warraquim but with my final approval and my duty will be set to Mother Regent.

I shall have final say and the Council already knows that unless the next one has a more forward outlook then I will not approve. Ah the politics of things. Just wait until my companions learn of this.

Well enough for now, as I said, I am no longer used to writting this and it is long enough."

Allyndra set the PaDD down and then got up. Tomorrow had many things yet to do.
