Admiral's Log, Stardate 67534.7

A most pleasant surprise has occurred recently, one that caught me off guard and gave me pause at first. Not more than a year since my last career progression to commodore, I have been promoted yet again...this time to the rank of rear admiral. Apparently, the 9th Fleet's joint command has deemed my command skills worthy of recognition, and they decided to not only promote me, but to also reassign Galileo as the new Task Force 21 flagship. Quite an accomplishment for the ship and her crew, indeed, and it makes me very proud to have such a highly-praised group of officers and enlisted crew to work with.

The celebration will have to wait, of course. With the upcoming NIMBUS exercises set to begin shortly, one of my first tasks was to delegate command responsibilities amongst the various starships that will be participating. Most of Galileo's senior officers -- including myself -- have been reassigned to different commands in order to help them gain more experience and boost our efficiency as a task group. Myself and Lieutenants Kita, Wyatt, West, and Zhao have all been transferred to USS Atlas for the duration of the exercise. She is a large Sovereign-class, one of Starfleet's most sophisticated and heavily armed, and it will be my first time in command of such a vessel.

It will be an interesting change, to say the least. Atlas is at least five times the size of Galileo with a much larger crew compliment and many resources at her disposal. I hope myself and the rest of the new officers can adjust in due time, but I feel confident knowing that I am not the only one who is having to acclimate to a new starship. Captain Holliday and Commanders Blake, Kohl, Mialin and Markos are also going to be serving aboard different starships, and no doubt they will have some adjusting to do as well.

That being said...I am not so concerned with the issue of new commands as I am with the inevitable upcoming diplomatic functions we will no doubt engage in with the KDF. Klingons are not the easiest people to get along with in close quarters, and if our last mission with the Cardassians was any indication, the crew has a bit of work to do to get their diplomatic prowess up to standard. I can only hope there will be no incidents or any formal complaints lodged once all is said and done.

Computer, end log.
