"Okay, today has been pretty surreal. I think it is a day my father would have been proud of me for....if he was still here. To make a long story short, I've been upgraded to Acting Chief Engineer for this next mission. Asahi is going to be off on another ship for these, I guess, tactical simulations as an Acting XO. I am really pleased for him, he is a great guy and deserves to go far in life.

But a whole Engineering department? I mean, it is something I have always wanted, but not this soon. I'm still quite new to the ship, recently promoted, will the rest of the Engineers ever respect me? After having a difficult run in or two, handling situations myself is no problem.

What if the ship experiences a core breach and I can't lock it down? I've got so many questions running in my head, I need to hit the books and study. Being on point is no longer a bonus, it is necessary. A department and a ship are now going to be relying on me.
