Captain's Log, Stardate 66478.8

Six hours ago, Galileo successfully arrived at Starbase 152, and I have since been diligently working with the base's personnel to oversee the transfer of all of Sienna's scientists and equipment to the ship. So far, I am pleased with the rate of progress and my crew has been performing well, though there appears to be some difficulty with some of the scientists. They are...upset. Disgruntled would probably be a better word to describe them. And unfortunately, some of them have not been taking kindly to our evacuation orders...there have been several physical confrontations already involving my crew. These scientists have not been very cooperative, yet we do not have the time or patience to explain the details of the situation to them.

During our latest briefing, I learned a terrible truth...that USS Petersham has been seized and impounded by the Empire, despite their claims of offering assistance. Lieutenant Coleman showed us the surveillance footage. My senior officers were...panicked, to say the least, when they learned of this. I suppose everyone had at least a momentary thought of Galileo being in a similar situation, but that should not have warranted the bickering which ensued. Fortunately, Lieutenant Orexil was able to assist me in keeping everyone calm, but I fear that the stress on the crew is taking a large toll...even amongst the command staff. The sooner we finish this evacuation and get underway, the better. I am disturbed to learn of this report involving Petersham, and I now fear that our worst assessments have come true.

For now, there is not much I can do except keep the crew focused on the current task. We have taken on several new Starfleet personnel as well, and it is reassuring to know we have additional support for each department. Our Chief of the Boat, Master Chief Darius, has been performing well, and I intend to have him work more with Commander Holliday to supervise the junior crew. In the meantime, I must get back to work. Galileo is scheduled to depart in forty-five minutes and I need to return to the starbase to supervise the end of the evacuation.

Computer, end log.
