Commodore's Log, Stardate 67236.2

The past day has been uneventful but our crew has remained busy, nonetheless. We have deployed away teams to the surface of the planet to not only interview several of the colonists, but to also check the terraforming and mining equipment for any signs of external factors which might be causing the disturbances reported in the colony. They are due to return to the ship shortly, and it is my hope that they can provide some first-hand insight into the situation.

While we wait for them to return, another away team -- led by Lieutenants Stace and Kohl -- has also gone down to the planet's surface to perform a detailed planetary survey. We are not exactly sure what we are looking for...I suppose something out of the ordinary; but that will be difficult to find considering the planet's current state. It is a Class K planet which is being adapted to be suitable for life, therefore the entire ecosystem is undergoing significant change. What might appear to be a strange phenomena could quite possibly be the simple result of the terraforming process. I suppose our scientists have no easy task ahead of them, but they are the Federation's most skilled planetary science team and I have confidence that if there is something worth investigating, they will find it.

Hopefully we have covered all of our bases, and the next step in our investigation will be to send several teams into the mines themselves to search for clues and gather more data.

Computer, end log.
