ON:

This is Nurse Pixis' personal log, number one. I just spent my first day aboard the USS Galileo. My first time in a Starship in nearly six months. After what happened at my last posting... the USS Redwing, I've felt very apprehensive to go back into space. But I knew that I had a duty to perform and the three spirits have willed it, I received transfer orders to this ship.

They had a run in with the Borg before I came along. Sickbay is a very busy place as a result. At least compared to what I'm used to. But the hectic pace distracts me. I am not sad for the dead. I know that they have gone to a more peaceful place. It's just that... I can't stop reliving that night over and over and over again. I sleep, but I don't have the ability to dream. It makes me feel broken in a way. I loose so much time to black, empty stretches unconsciousness. I wake up feelings slightly less exhausted than when I went to sleep.

It doesn't help that I have this feeling of impending doom. As we approach the mining colony, I get a stronger and stronger sense of fear and darkness emanating from the place and everything to do with it.

The miners are humans and cardassians. I have met humans before, of course. I trained on Earth, I served with them on the Redwing and at Starfleet Medical. But Cardassians? There is one in our crew. I ran into him once. He was raised by Bajorans, apparently. I am going to guess that since that is the case, he isn't like most other Cardassians.

As a culture they have a reputation for being hard, brutal people. I know that is just a stereotype. But they often stem from a kernel of truth. I just sincerely hope that no one becomes combative. At least not around me. I don't think I am ready to deal with that. Even though Starfleet thinks I'm fine.

This is a great ship, though. I think I'll really like it here.I hope our trip is uneventful and I hope to get to know the crew well.

Computer, end log.
