Log Entry: Min Zhao - Earth - 2

Personal Log: Lt j.g. Min Zhao

Min glanced at the recording device on the desk of her private quarters on earth. She'd hated the Starfleet practice of recording personal log entries but it came with the territory. "A month almost to the day since my last entry. Feels a little awkward doing these again but it's part of the job, right? And boy is there a lot to cover. So ramble I guess I must."

"So anyways. What's happened since the last one? Starfleet gave me back my commission, assigned me to a new ship, and even gave me my old rank back. If that wasn't enough, I'm also an Assistant Department Head. Honest truth, I thought if I was lucky that I'd be a crewman on some Starfleet Freighter doing waste runs on one of the old refitted Miranda's. So much for that fantasy tho."

Min smiled. "Instead I'm cozy if somewhat state of the art science vessel responsible for making sure a bunch of scientists have the resources they need to play with their toys. I do have regular scheduled visits with the ship's counselor, one Teth Miir. He's kinda cute, well maybe more then kinda, and I sometimes wonder what dating a Caitian would be like. What makes them tick?" Min paused, unsure if her next remark should go in the logs or not. "Also kinda curious what being intimate with one is like? Not that I'd ever ask him but I'm curious."

"On the personal front, My pregnancy is progressing along nicely, so say the doctors. They're not to sure when I due as the baby's father is Bajoran so that could mean I'll pop tomorrow, or maybe in another five months. Doctor's think I may end up closer to ten months as my baby needs more time for it's little body to prepare for life on the outside. And yes, I said it's. I haven't asked what the gender is and won't ask until birth. Small family tradition."

"My sister's also pregnant with her second. Been enjoying spending time with Shen as shore-leave isn't that long and it's been flying by. Won't get to see her for a while once we leave Earth so make the most of it. Rest of the family is doing well also."

"Leaving the best for last." Min smiled into the recorder. "Lt Jared Nicholas, Linguist. Really cute guy. Kinda shy, fun to hang out with. Good kisser. Okay better then good kisser, good lover."

"And yet, the problem I find myself faced with is not Jared but my job. Starfleet accepted me back on the condition I don't let my previous indiscretion repeat itself. Problem back then was I let my emotions towards a guy affect my judgement. Maintaining a close relationship with Jared may be seen by the command staff as my starting to repeat my mistakes. I can't afford that as my career depends on proving that was a mistake I won't make again."

"At the same time, I'm taking this one differently. No sudden fall in love and have sex whenever I can get it kind of hookup. I'm taking this one easy and letting things go where they will. Hopefully by the time we depart, Command will see this relationship with Jared is part of the stability I need to work back into Starfleet life."

Min paused. "I should clarify that I often over-think things and assume stuff when I'm thinking things through. Jared & I have been dating for all of maybe two weeks now so we're just starting down that path. It's still to early to tell how things will go and I'm trying not to be too eager about everything."

"It's just that Jared seems at ease with what he's getting into. We take this to it's logical conclusion and he decides to stick around long term, he's going to be a father to some other guys child. That's not something a lot of guys are comfortable with. I just hope he does stick around."
