"Chief Security Officer's Personal Log,

Over the last few days, I have grown increasingly concerned over a number of matters. Commander Holliday shows a marked distrust and dislike of our Empire allies and I worry that his perspective might be adopted by some of our less open-minded crew, leading them to do more than refuse Officer Ruktah the right to investigate their labs. If we are fighting amongst ourselves, we will not be in a position to make clear, rational decisions in the event of a emergency. And more to the point, I worry that the Commander will not be able to separate his personal feelings should the Klingons become adversarial. It is important that he understand that their posturing need not always lead to real violence. Captain Saalm seems to understand their culture somewhat more, or at least is willing to, and I hope that her will lead the way should anything happen.

I pray to the Great Fire, the Jalara Guardians, and the spirits of the Thirteenth House who ever protect the will of man and guide his aim to that of peace, that all our preparations will go untested and we will complete our mission without lives lost on either side. The Empire and the Federation are allies and I have no wish to be a part of anything that could jeopardize that alliance. For the sake of us all.

There is also this business with the glitches in the systems throughout the ship. I am glad to see that Markum shares my contention that this issue is nothing more than a series of coincidences. Whoever Rabicci was, who seems to have pointlessly invaded the armory, his only goal seems to have been seeing if he could tamper with our systems, and his attempt at doing so proved to be quite ineffective over all. That is not to say he shouldn't be stopped, but whoever he is, he is not on this ship. I sent a message to the head of starbase 234's security and expect a reply on the crewman's rank and whereabouts when we reach Federation space again.

Something I find more disturbing than this suspected sabotage is Si'tar Del'an's presence on this ship. Given the confidential nature of the mission objectives, I am perplexed at why we have allowed a guest to be on board at this time. Not only a guest, but a woman of unclear motives whose mind is a wall to me. Not a wall. More of an ocean, where all the valid and verifiable contexts and intentions are hidden so far beneath the surface that I would need hours to search for it. It isn't that I dislike her, exactly; she is interesting and clearly experienced and I have no doubt there is much I could learn to enrich my own mental strengths from her, but... I grow uneasy at the prospect of dealing with one who intentionally hides so much."
