To: Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Holliday
From: Lieutenant Junior Grade Kestra Orexil
Subject: Security Department Situation Overview Report
Content:
Upon crossing into Klingon territory, we were assigned a Klingon escort ship - the bird-of-prey Na'vi. There have been rising tempers all around the ship, especially towards our Klingon and half-Klingon crew, but so far we have managed to handle situations before they rise to a significant boil. I can only hope that our escort does not give Command or the rest of the crew any reason to regress into the base reaction of stereotyping. For the most part, the Na'vi has remained cloaked since she joined us; a fact which leaves those of us in Security/Tactical on alert, but seems to calm the majority of the other crew I have come across. The less they see of our ally's ship, the happier they appear to be. Out of sight, out of mind.

Despite my desire to believe in the honorable intentions of our Klingon escort, our mission objective must come first. In supporting that goal, I have done my best to train my department quickly and efficiently in the basics of Klingon tactical strategy - ship to ship and boarding. In conjunction with the other department chiefs, I believe we have found the highest yield defensive strategy for maintaining mission integrity in the event of a Klingon attack:
-Ship-wide holoprojectors and forcefields have been programmed to create false pathways to a containment zone in the event of a boarding party. Optimal containment area- cargo bay 2. High gravity field generators in place at location.
-Force field programmed from immediate activation in the event of a code red alarm, protecting entrance to escape shuttles and pods from any but authorized Galileo personnel.
-LTJG Coleman's designated torpedo modifications, as approved by Command, have been implemented.
-We are capable of implementing distress signals to Klingon channels at several key points within the Empire to draw extra Empire vessels away from our point of contact.
-Modifications on corridor shields for disruptor ion absortion underway. Completion likely in 5-7 days.
-We have current Klingon subspace communication ping codes, enabling us to manipulate their access to other ships in the event that we are able to disable their common communication relays.
-We are currently developing a potential means of disrupting bird of prey communications in the area with localized, intentional ionized radiation blow out from select points on the ship. See reports from Science and Operations for further details.

Preparations for the arrival at Starbase 152, too, have been exhaustive, but I am far more confident as we approach the base now that we will be able to handle all eventualities. I now have two security officers who I've driven through the four-hour intensive in personal guard ethics and tactics, and I'm confident they'll be able to fulfill their duties admirably once we board our new crew members at the next star base.

I remain concerned over the status of this mystery with the ship's database and console access. While I am inclined to believe that many of these glitches are the evidence of mere coincidence and rushed workmanship, it would be ill-advised not to investigate further. Despite Rabicci's access to the armory, we were able to find no weapons, power cells, or ammunition missing. The files he'd displaced from one console were accessible from all the others. This occurrence has all the signs of a botched, amateur attempt at sabotage or, simpler, the actions of a misguided, sloppy, and bored station engineer at Starbase 234. I understand Commander Remington's concern that these incidents are more insidious. As T'Paaru's algorithm continues to disassemble the data acquired from the other hacked terminals and the new information from the other department heads, we will doubtlessly learn more. I will keep you informed of all new assessments.
