Captain's Log, Stardate 69424.1

"Galileo's ETA to the Enus system is momentary but there's now an equally-important matter on my mind. I just received a communique from local strategic command which is...concerning. Long-range scans from Starbase 133 along the Federation-Klingon border are observing an increased flow of Klingon military forces traveling from Qo'noS to Boreth then to a staging area in the Bortas system to the south. By all estimates from Starfleet Command, the Klingons are mobilizing an invasion of Gorn space.

"I'd be a liar if I confessed this was a surprise. Starfleet's known of the Klingon Empire's designs to 'acquire' Gorn territory ever since their reconstruction period began following the Dominion War. The Federation has expanded south during this time and it's only natural for the Klingons to continue their own expansion now that their fleet yards are back to full capacity. First they took the Romulan colonies along the border after the supernova incident, and now they want...need to compete with us in the galactic south to expand their sphere of influence.

"This war's been brewing for a decade and Starfleet's contingencies are now being implemented in full effect. Gorn space is only 60 light years from our current position and orders were just relayed to re-deploy a third of our operational assets here in the Pleiades Cluster to reinforce the Federation border to the north.

"What does this mean for us? For Galileo and Regula I? Fewer supply runs routed to our position. Fewer capital ships available to answer aid and distress calls. Exploration directives and assets always take a back seat wherever conflict is involved. We're going to be on our own even more now than we were before. If...when, war breaks out, let's hope it won't spill into these sectors of space and jeopardize our people and this exploration directive.

"Computer, end log."
