"I've granted the crew a week of shore leave; six days to be exact. I hadn't planned to oversee ship-wide downtime until another few months passed but in the wake of recent events? Most are on edge and it's only a matter of time before a gasket blows. Our sector of operations isn't populated by any pleasure planets comparable to Risa or Rigel yet at this junction...simply getting them off the ship will suffice.
"Administrator Frost and I had a candid conversation the other day. She's granted the use of Regula I and Remidia for Galileo's crew leisure which I'm thankful for. But more importantly, she and I seem to share a similar opinion - that our collective futures still remain in our own hands despite this new knowledge of whatever prime or alternate timeline we recently encountered.
"It's a tough bone to digest, to feel responsible for potentially changing the outcome of the known galactic territories. It's kept me up at night and I haven't had a good night's sleep for...well, that's not important. Why I can't sleep, is because of the quandary. I keep looking for a place to lay blame for our plight or a way to justify the means to the end in our predicament. How do we determine what the right decision is or was? The correct course of action to undertake in a scope well outside of our purview?
"I think... Correction, I've come to realize that this 'event' we encountered had no correct outcome. There wasn't a right or wrong way to proceed because all options presented to us were ultimately flawed. No SOP to fall back on, no fleet command consultation available. Sometimes we're dealt losing hands and sometimes the game itself is rigged. If only this had been as easy as the Kobayashi Maru evaluation I recently administered to my XO...
"Despite my trepidation, let the official record reflect my support of this crew and pride in their actions both here and in the future. When all that remained were moral and ethical compasses, we charted a course then acted to the best of our ability. To those of you in the Temporal Investigations department currently reading this: know that Galileo executed all of its orders under my command both present and future, and remember this ship's name in 25 years while the Federation continues to prosper.
"Computer, end log."
