“Begin Personal Log”

“For me, the hard part is done. Our special mission of two shuttles are on the final approach to , . . well, . . it’s top secret, so I guess I won’t say where we’re heading. I guess I can say we are traversing a complex asteroid field that seems to be constantly changing at points, yet we do have designated waypoints. Managing these waypoints through the asteroid field has been a bit of a challenge, but nothing too overwhelming. I truly would have preferred to have communication with the other shuttle, but I know Lamar is a great pilot and can anticipate things as well as I.”

“Uncertainties lie before us at the station, but for the crew of the Galileo, this really isn’t anything new.”

“Hmm, this situation reminds me of a time back when I was serving with the Andorian Imperial Guard. I was piloting a small shuttle on a training mission with a recon force, very much like this. I had to navigate our shuttle through a massive ice cave complex near the secondary magnetic pole on Andoria. As the ‘humans’ would put it, we were ‘flying by the seat of our pants’. Schematics of the cave system could not be relied upon due to the shifting ice. Sensor readings were helpful, yet we were getting false readings due to the complex mineral deposits in the ice walls. It really came down to good lighting from the shuttle and my constant visual awareness, through the front viewport, of the approaching changes. Keval, at my right, was great at advising me which path to take to reach our goal.”

“It is sad that Keval never returned. Towards the end of that practice mission, while taking ice-core samples, a patch of ice under Keval gave way and he plummeted 300 meters to his death.”

“I have no desire for anything like that to happen on this mission. These are my crew, . . my friends. I will do everything I can to protect them and return them to the Galileo.”

“End Log”
