There was a young girl who loved to paint. She worried though as she went out to paint the lovely landscape. “How can I ever capture the essence of what my eyes see. I might miss the way the light touches the hills. The twist in a tree, the foam of a wave.”

She had a sister that sometimes would go with her and watch as she painted and heard the complaints. “It is your best, it all you can do.” Her sister would say lovingly.

Then one day her sister took ill and died. The painter went out to work on her painting but felt so overwhelmed but she thought on her sister and she began to paint, the tears in her eyes as she painted it.

When she returned everyone marveled at the picture telling her it was her very best. “I is sorrow that made my hand work so well.”

One old woman shook her head and told her. “It was not sorrow; it was love. Love is a funny thing; it allows one to find one’s own self. It can allow one to live when there is sorrow.”

The young painter asked the old woman. “But what if it gives happiness as well?”

The old woman smiled. “Ah then it is called Heaven.”
