Markum Quinn, Personal Log: Stardate 66833.5

We have successfully managed a controlled crash landing upon the surface of Vega-Nine. By the grace of God, and the sheer determination of the Skipper and crew, we made it. The ship on the other hand, well that is a different story. It is battered and bruised, much like most of us after the mission, but has managed to bring us back successfully. It will take a while to get her put back together, but she will fly again.

Tarishiana has gone on to Betazed. It was hard to see her leave, but she had to do it. For her own good. Plus, with her parents health not what it once was, she should be there to help out. I miss her already, but I have been so busy with repairs and promotions and staffing that I have not had much time to do little else but work, eat and sleep.

I have found out that there was a bombing on Risa. I have been unsuccessful in all my attempts to contact Markus, or any Starfleet facility there. I was informed that the USS Illustrious has been dispatched to Risa. I knew Captain Hurin's parents from when I was with the Starfleet Corps of Engineers. The Independence was our home for several months, taking us to areas of need and picking us back up once our construction duties were completed. He was a good kid, and he loved his parents. Damn shame what happened to them. I hope they can find Markus, and all the others that are missing. I pray that he is okay and was not affected by the metagenic compounds of the bomb. I hope no one is harmed, but I know that is not plausible.

It is times like this part of me wishes Markus would of went into college and medical school outside of Starfleet and worked in the civilian sector. However, he is my son, and that was never really going to happen. The upside to him being in the academy, he is well trained to handle a crisis situation, and has enough of his father's stubbornness and his mother's wit to keep himself alive and help others.
