Personal Log - 005 - Example to Others

ON:

Some might call in innevitable, but I do not consider a promotion in rank something to expect. For some it is something to strive for, to set goals for, and/or for some to feel proud about.

Today, I received the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. My experience at the ceremony was one of pride and confidence, but at the same time of great loss for those that are no longer here to serve with me.

Most would consider my promotion as normal or to be expected. Since leaving the Academy, I have served for over a year, this being my second, well third posting I guess. It depends on if we consider the training mission as a posting.

In either case, with my current rank as 'Lieutenant J G'and my position as Assistant Chief of Security, my responsibility has definately increased. I have to do my absolute best and try to be the best example for others.

I am sure that my mother and Heinz will be proud of me when they get the news.
