[Federation Hospital on Stardate 68996.6]
“He is coming too.” A distant voice said. Ryan’s head pounded, his body ached, and he couldn’t move. “Careful, careful, don’t try to move too quickly.” The voice said. Ryan tried to open his eyes, only to slam them shut at the intensity of the light. “Oh, sorry about that, dim lights 70%.” The voice said, followed by a chime to indicate that it had happened. “Ok, try it again.” Slowly Ryan cracked one eye then the other. All he could see was blurry shapes and globs of light. “It’s…so…blurry.” Ryan rasped, his mind sluggish and voice raspy. “You have been in stasis for nearly a year, and have been in treatment for serious burns. What is the last thing that you can remember?” The voice asked. “Burns? Stasis?” He horsed out before undergoing a coughing fit. He felt a straw touch his lip. “Drink slowly and please, what is the last thing that you can remember?”

Ryan drank slowly, his vision slowly starting to clear. He looked around before responding. From what he could see he looked to be in a hospital or a sickbay and strapped to a bio bed while also being encased in a full body like cast. “Um…I last remember being on the Galileo…and being under attack from Klingons…I had just given my authorization to self-destruct, wait….” Ryan said slowly his voice starting to become less horse. His mind instantly racing to the crew and to his Captain. “The crew, the Galileo. I need to get to them. “ He rasped out, trying to shake loss of the bed and the cast like contraption. “It is ok, it is ok, they are fine.” The voice soothed. “No…I need…to return, what happened?” Ryan continued to struggle against the cast. He felt a cold tip of a hypo-spry touch his next and the cool feeling of the being injected with something, almost instantly Ryan felt as if he had no energy to struggle anymore. “It’s alright Ensign Alexander, they are safe; you are safe. Get some rest. We can talk more when you wake up.” The voice soothed. Ryan could only nod as he closed his eyes, sleep sounded nice.
