::The Academy, years ago::

Aria Rice grinned as she twirled in front of the mirror, up on her toes and then down again. She watched her face for a moment and stepped forward, her eyes red. She smiled, the dark red lipstick revealing the sharp teeth before she stepped back into the shadow.

"Aria, are you almost done?"

Aria turned quickly, her hands coming out with dark nails dropping with blood before she cackled manically and then went serious. "Soon! Just need my boots!" she skipped to the bed and looked at her room mate, Alia, who was studying Intelligence. She sighed heavily and then reached for her boots. "Oh..." she looked at her nails and then the laces. "Help?"

"God's sake..." Beeca laughed and walked over to Aria, kneeling in her costume that looked like a uniform. She had dressed like an ancient Earth soldier. "What are you dressed like?"

"Demon queen," Aria said as she watched Becca do up the boots. The tight fake leather trousers, the boots, the blood red jacket and her jet black hair, together with the red eyes, the teeth, heavy makeup and the nails. "I considered vampire, but demon queen is much more fun."

"Uh huh..." Becca rolled her eyes and stood, smiling gently. "And the cookies?"

"Soul cakes," Aria corrected and smiled, moving over to the plate. She looked at them, touching the currants carefully, watching the cross. "Medieval English thing. For All Hallows' Eve..." she said and offered one to her, watching as Becca took a bite and then shrugged. "I know, less sweet than what I usually make. But...but! They are traditional..." she grinned and looked around, at the Halloween decorations she had put up. "I love Halloween."

"Why? Is Luna known for it?" Becca asked playfully and moved to the door.

Aria shook her head and took the plate of cookies, smiling to herself as she followed Becca. "No," she finally said. "But my Dad used to love it..." she admitted and looked down, considering it. "So we had it when he was alive."

Becca nodded at the words before she smiled gently. "Come. I hear there are shots at the party."

"Shots!" Aria grinned and nodded, pushing the melancholy away and taking a deep breath. "I do love my shots..."
