"Computer begin recording, Lieutenant Commander Luke Wyatt, Chief Security Officer's personal log stardate 68659.2.

With most of the capital work completed aboard the Galileo-A the new, and some old crew have started to arrive. Being here before most of the senior staff I took it upon myself to meet and greet the newer members of our crew, especially those straight out of the academy. The experience gave me and those whom I mentored aboard a chance to create a dialogue in a less official way whilst getting used to the ship itself. One particular Ensign, a one Sofie Ullswater was particularly an experience to have met. She is certainly going to make a place aboard the ship as long as she learns to control her nerves.

I also had the fantastic experience of dining with my Assistant Security Chief Lieutenant Amaranai Franklin, we spent the evening eating bangers and mash as well as conversing which I found out that her sister would be joining us on this voyage. With my experience at the academy, I offered to tutor her if she ever so felt the desire to have something to do and also giving her the opportunity to learn about Starfleet. I believe the meal and the invitation were received well and I do look forward to working with Miss Franklin again.

On a more lesser note, It is a regret, that I have yet to meet with the Captain. I believe this may be a result of past events which myself and the Chief Medical Officer have discussed and concluded we, as senior officer need to watch for any signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in any of the crew. However, this has affected the Captain in becoming slightly more withdrawn from the crew. This is however only an untrained observation which I have a firm belief will change as the ship gets underway and we begin working together more closely.

On a more personal note, I believe I may find any duties working alongside Ensign Derani difficult. Ever since our 'break up' she has become slightly less tolerant of my presence, I believe the only way to combat this potential problem would be to discuss the matter directly so that whatever underpinning anger she has towards me is ironed out so that we can continue to work in a professional manner.

Overall our pre-departure month has been eventful, and I believe as a crew and a ship we are at what can be described as eager to leave spacedock and begin our maiden voyage, I particularly am excited to see what Starfleet has lined up for us but knowing them it will be nothing but simple for our first trip among the stars in the new vessel in which we call home.
