Captain's Log, Stardate 68481.0

Final preparations are underway for departure. By the time my next log is recorded, we will be en route to Starbase 67 in our new vessel, and as I record this, the last of our new personnel will be arriving this week to relieve the shipyard's test crew. I've reviewed all of their logs over the past 12 months and I'm confident they have done an exceptional job outfitting this new class of starship. I only wish we had one of the original engineers on board to help my crew through the inevitable growing pains we'll face over the next year.

USS Schofield was decommissioned just yesterday and the memory remains fresh. I've spent my career stationed aboard starbases, Galaxy-class cruisers, and Nova-class frigates, but none of them were like Schofield. She was a relic from the past, commissioned over a hundred years ago during an earlier time; imagine the different crews who commanded her over the decades and the places she's been. It was a great honor to stand on those deck plates and put her to rest, and an even greater honor to see many of Galileo's crew there to represent the final part of her history.

After returning from Vajripam, I feel my personal affairs are in order. As much as that's possible, I suppose. It was good to see mother again but I'm sad that Nesh continues to reject me. I can't make her listen to reason and she questions everything I say. It's...frustrating, but also for the best, I suppose. The Frontier is no place for a young and over-emotional Orion, and she'll be safer back on Earth pursuing her nude artwork.

Computer, end log
