"Normally I reminisce about some of the tales from our mythology but things have taken an odd turn and thought to put my thoughts down here.

As most of the crew of the Galileo-A has arrived and been checked in we received a mass communications asking all but the two senior most officers to report to an old Oberth class science ship called the Schofield. We have not been briefed yet on why or what we will be doing with the old ship but since there are no cadets involved then it is not another cadet cruise either.

If I might pretend to be Vulcan for a moment, it would seem logical then that something has come up that requires a scientific investigation and no spare ships. Furthermore, then one could guess then spare ship without a crew, and crew currently awaiting a ship makes for an easy combination. Still what particular reason remains unknown at this point.

I have been tasked with taking on the first officer position on this ship and hopefully it will be uneventful. Being second officer on the original Galileo did not end quite so well. One wonders if one could have done anything more but that is as we term it: 'Waves over the ocean'.

Well I suppose I should get around the new ship and familiarize myself with the layout. It is quite different from a Nova class.

Computer end log"
