Personal Log

I have just arrived at Rigel II. There is a ship production facility here. I just delivered several crewmen for their new assignments. From what I understand, most are going to a new vessel that is in final preparation for its maiden voyage. My plans had been to spend the night and then head back with the shuttle to Earth. I would of course take any personnel that needed a ride to Starfleet Command or anywhere in the Sol system.

Then something unexpected occurred. I received orders to report tomorrow for an interview with the CO of that very same ship. As I recalled it is the USS Galileo, a science vessel. The information provided says that this interview is for a permanent position as its Helmsman. I am certainly glad to get an opportunity like this, compared to all the little shuttle runs I’ve been doing for Starfleet Command over the last several months.

This ‘science vessel’ was defiantly not in line with my goals; to be part of an exploration vessel or a flagship. I’m sure one of those positions would have brought my carrier to more prominence and could have been something more significant for my file, as well as provide opportunities for me to gain prestige in the eyes of the senior officers and admiralty of Starfleet. And just possibly that of the admiralty of the Andorian Guard.

But a science vessel? Can I do that here too? Who knows.

Maybe I will come across some Starfleet personnel I might know. That would make the transition a little easier.

But I have to ask myself, is this the right one?
