Kala's log.

Posted on 03 Nov 2017 @ 12:44pm by Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kala Marika

377 words; about a 2 minute read

Leaning back on the couch in her apartment, Kala glanced down at a padd she was reading. Yawning she glanced up at the screen across from her, seeing the time. ~Amazing how the hours can pass when your having fun,~ she noted to herself. Those hours of fun she referred to was the latest technical journal published by the Daystrom Institute. This isse one of her former coworkers had published an article investigating the current advances in holographics, specifically advancements in spatial manipulation and how it applied to the EMH program.

Closing the article she flipped over to the log that she'd been keeping these past few months as she'd overseen the construction of Starfleet's latest science vessel.

"Computer. Begin Log."

"I'll be glad a few weeks off from the yard. Not that I don't enjoy the work but a few weeks to deflate and not worry about the latest minute detail and issue as we assemble this latest vessel. ASDB outdid themselves with this vessel but at the same time I know she'll have teething issues, if the issues we've been facing with her build are any indication."

"I am looking forward to some time back on earth, catching up with family, meeting Akorem's latest girlfreind. He showed me a picture and she's quite the looker but I wonder if she's entirely his type. My brother needs a good steady girl, and the last few have been anything but. Maybe she is, I don't know, I'll find out when I meet her. Of course this is the same guy who keeps hinting I should find a guy and settle down, and isn't exactly a broken in horse himself."

"I also have to give me boss and answer before I leave about his proposal. Seems the yard wants somebody who knows the vessel inside and out to ride along with her as this is the first of this subclass coming off the slip. It would mean a six month tour in space which I'm not sure if I want, but it has been suggested that these types of assignments are valuable if I want to climb the ladder, and are also rare. Probably say yes but I'll think over it the next few days."

"Computer. End Log."
