Personal Log, Stardate 66231.4

Debriefings for most of the crew are complete according to the administrative reports I've seen filed. My own were tedious but not as I'd expected, however. There were many questions about my actions that surprised me; not necessarily about the decisions I made aboard Galileo as her commanding officer, but of the events aboard DuJa'Q. Starfleet seemed very curious about my adoption of a Klingon rank, but I tried to explain to them the necessity of such a thing aboard a vessel mostly crewed by Klingons. And it was not my first choice nor something I originally proposed, but after hearing Medara's reasoning, it seemed the most reasonable course of action.

I predicted that our engagement with USS Sentinel might elicit most of the scrutiny and that was how the debriefings unfolded. I hope the admirals on my panel were able to see that it was a difficult order to give my crew but also one that was necessary to complete our task. I'd never wish any harm to another Starfleet vessel or its crew, and we took the best precautions we could to prevent harming them.

I answered their queries and explained as much as I could, but I left the chamber feeling uncertain. I would have thought Starfleet would be very interested to learn about the Kreanans and their presence within the Paulson Nebula...but there were very few questions about them or their wants and desires. Too few for my liking. And for all the diplomatic efforts my crew and I undertook while in captivity and in command of our battlecruiser, not once were our actions acknowledged in a positive manner. I find it frustrating to have served in Starfleet for so long and be ignored for attempting to carry out its standing orders and diplomatic maintenance.

Vice Admiral McDermott did not seem pleased with me. He's the ranking personnal commander and I'd be deceiving myself if I didn't expect a court summons in the coming days. No commanding officer is ever 'released from the hook', as the Humans say, following a series of events like ours. My next step must be to obtain counsel and prepare myself for whatever Starfleet has judged me guilty of.

Computer, end log
