Thoughts of a House Mother

403 words; about a 2 minute read

Allyndra did not want to record this. She only wanted to organize her thoughts since talking to the Ambassador.

She knew it was a bad habit to talk out loud to oneself but sometimes she found it helped. She found a quite corner and started, "Call this a mental log to myself. I talked to Ambassador Varro and told him a bit about Akkadia's true history. I have seen that in the mirror universe that somehow a different way was found. Still I worry about how to change an entire society, the feelings that will come up as people began to learn that they have been lied to for centuries. It is not only that aspect but how we deal with others. Outsiders do not consider us much threat and I would see it kept that way. Though Akkadia lies at a spot for the jumping off point to the sagittarius arm of the galaxy few have attempted to try to force the system. That could change if we let the past out and that past leaks from beyound the world itself.

How do you keep a secret that a million souls would know? I can see how it is much easier when only a handful of very dedicated know. I fear that if the secret of the Fold Ships gets out what difference would there be between us and the similar though somewhat lessor technology of the Iconians. They were demonized and then destroyed. Of course, the gateway technology could not help them, as like the Fold Ships help us. A Fold Ship might jump 70,000 or more light years in a blink of an eye but the effect can also be turned outward. The only time so far that I have found anything about that being used was on a Borg cube that came into the Akkadian system. All the record stated was that such cube was folded to someplace far beyound the dwarf galaxies. I can remember the entries droyle comment: 'No one was killed, we simply let time set its course as needed'. Indeed, considering the closest dwarf is 160,000 light years and the other is another quarter more.

That would certainly get notice amoung the galactic powers and certainly would perhaps precipitate the end of Akkadia. Yet I cannot in good faith seemingly leave the rest of my people in darkness or can I?

The balance is delicate and hard."
