Braxton stared out into the darkness of space as the pod floated away from the Galileo. His mind felt numb. There were days he hated being part Betazoid. The collective shock and sadness weighed heavy on his heart.

He closed his eyes and leaned back against the pod's solid tritanium walls. With a sigh he tried to focus his mind. To get the sadness out enough so that he could function.

When Braxton opened his eyes his eye went to the little window again, the one on the port side that faced the ship but instead of space and the badly damaged ship he saw a familiar smiling face.

His lips formed the word that his voice could not utter. Marie

There in the window was an image of his smiling nanny. Words came flooding back to him.

My little Braxton, when the dogs of war destroy that which is dear, we shall see one another again. You shall feel the embrace coldness but for a moment before we are together again

Fear gripped his heart. Was this the end? Was this where Braxton would loose his life?

He couldn't think like that. He wouldn't. He blinked several times to get rid of the image and then his eyes wondered to Jonas. In the short while that he'd known this man, his life had blossomed. He'd wanted again, he'd yearned, he'd felt like life was sweet.

Braxton wouldn't give that up, not without a fight.

Just as he reached out for Jonas' hand he felt the pull of a transporter and the interior of the little pod disappeared only to be replaced by a face that could only be described as a dog of war.

Braxton made a move for the disruptor in the Klingon's hand and was met with a sharp pain in the back of his skull.

There was a brief moment of light and then darkness enveloped him. His thought was ... love...Jonas... my love.... as his mind floated into unconsciousness.
