Who's your daddy?

Eelim had just gotten out of sickbay. Thoughts of what he’d experienced while he’d been unconscious ran through his head.

He’d come home and the first thing he did was light a candle on his shrine to the Bajoran Gods. It was a thank you as much as a plea for yet more help. So much to think about…so much to remember…to assimilate. His mind was running a mile a minute.

He lay back on is bed. He started with his memories of Derat. What the Bajoran Gods had said haunted him. What they implied … what his mind thought it knew, all these things haunted him.

Eelim let out a breath he hadn’t know he was holding. Gingerly sitting up he made his way to the desk that was just a bit from his bed. He turned on his screen and put a call in to Bajor. It took a moment but the Starfleet logo shimmered and changed to the face of Dr. Edrin. The woman smiled warmly when she saw him.

He smiled. “Good. Dr. Edrin I need your help. You’re not going to like this and I don’t even know if it’s possible but I have to know.”

She looked at him with concern in her eyes. =/\= I’ll try and help if I can. What’s going on?=/\=

Eelim sighed. “Do you still have my DNA on file at your clinic?” He hoped she would. It had been a long time since he was on Bajor but…

=/\=I’ll look. =/\= Dr. Edrin’s hands flew over the console. Her brow furrowed and then, she smiled. =/\= I do!!=/\=

He smiled at her enthusiasm. “Good. Now this is the big one. When Gul Derat was there a long time ago you treated him and you took a sample from him. Do you still have it?”

She thought for a moment, checked the computer and shook her head. =/\= I don’t know we have manual storage I can check there. It’s not in the database anymore but I know we cleared a bunch of records onto PADDs so I’m sure it’s there. It will take time. Eelim what’s going on?=/\=

He blew out a breath. “Recently someone told me something I need confirmed. I need you to find that DNA sample and compare it to mine. I need to know if we’re related.”

Dr. Edrin looked stunned. =/\= Why on Earth would you think that? =/\= She looked at his expression. =/\=Okay Eelim. I promise that I will look into it. It’ll take some time but I will find out. If you suspect that he’s related to you I think I can contact a friend at Cardassia Medical. Maybe I can get a comparison of your family’s DNA.=/\=

Eelim smiled. “Thank you. I’ll await your call. This means a lot to me.”

Eelim clicked off the screen and sighed with relief. Dr. Edrin would find out what the answer was. He needed to talk to someone about all this. Maybe it was time that he went to see the counselor.

Eelim pulled up his message system and requested an appointment. Within moments he got a reply that Counselor Nightingale was able to see him within the hour. He’d take it. He replied back a confirmation, went to shower and change and then made his way to the counseling office.
