Personality & Traits

General Overview Once a very action oriented and primed person, Emma has mellowed somewhat over the years. While still very able and willing to jump to the occasion, the years have taught her that caution is often warranted. Exuding ‘Career Officer’ through every inch of her skin, she has been known to intimidate or attract many, with her ever present confidence in her own abilities.
Strengths Decisive, experienced and a born leader. Emma was never one to feel the need to keep a professional distance with her crew. Any and all of them are welcome to talk to her at any time. She has an innate trust of fleeters and their abilities.
Weaknesses Her closeness to the people she serves with means every loss is a personal one. Being born and raised a fleeter, also means she tends to underestimate civilians and people outside the usual command structure. Her inherent trust of fleeters, also means she refuses to believe any of them can be capable of acting outside Starfleet ethics.
Ambitions Most of her ambitions have been completed at this point. She hopes to make a mark if she can. Leave a footnote for historians to maul over, or barring that, do her job as best she can until they kick her out.
Hobbies & Interests Parrises squares, Kick boxing, Velocity, Golf
Vernacular Sterile Federation Standard.
Orientation Homosexual
Language(s) Spoken Federation Standard, Cardassian, Jem Hadar

Personal History Born in 2349 on the USS Shran, an old Miranda class starship, Emma’s childhood was a rather exciting one. While her mother was the ship’s captain, her father served as Chief Engineer and Second Officer.

Taking to space life like a sponge, she learned how to make herself useful from a very young age. Learning some engineering skills from her father, command and decision making skills from her mother, and pretty much any other skill set she could dabble in from various crew members and officers.

It would be no surprise that a boomer such as her would apply to the academy as soon as she could. Nor that she would be accepted on her first try, having been brought up to live and breath such a life from her first steps and space walk.
Starfleet History Her time at the academy was a blur. Having been raised in the life gave her an edge over most others. But being a Starfleet brat did have it’s drawbacks. Her social life took a decent hit, forcing her to focus on her studies even more. It was not a great surprise when she graduated the academy a year early and applied to Advanced Command School. A year later, she graduated with honors and was offered a place on an old Miranda Class, the USS Portland. having been raised on one, gave her a distinctive advantage as a flight officer, as she knew exactly what it was capable of.

After two years, she is transferred to the USS Appalachia, Steamrunner class, where she received a promotion and was assigned as Assistant Chief Flight Control Officer. Her first year was spent acclimating herself to a new class of ship and taking pleasure in taking a step up in her career.

The borg attack on sector 001 had her see a quick stint at Tactical, which impressed her captain, who requested her transfer to that department, to learn the ropes as it were. Later that year, as the Dominion war started, she received a field promotion to Lieutenant and acting Chief Tactical Officer, following a disastrous encounter with Jem Hadar ships.

The following two years, were some of the hardest on her. She had not joined the fleet to become a soldier. She just wanted to stay amongst the stars, perhaps have her own ship one day. But liek in the fleet meant you had to adjust. And she did. Those two years carved the warrior hidden behind the flesh. Once all was over, both her field commission and temporary appointment became permanent. She would spend two more years serving aboard the Appalachia before being transferred to Starfleet Academy.

The three years that followed had her serve as an instructor on Dominion and Cardassian tactics at the academy. A turn she had not expected, but welcomed for the change and challenge it presented. Everything went smoothly at first. She had a talent for teach and a flare for the dramatic when appropriate, students responded well to her and she found herself quite comfortable in such a position.

Until a very frustrating Orion cadet showed up. Confrontational, cocky and highly enticing. For a rare moment in her life, Emma felt like she could lose control, and she did not enjoy that feeling. It took great effort, but her sense of duty prevailed. While she fought hard to forget the only incident that had occurred, the kiss she shared with the cadet would haunt her for years to come.

Following her three year stint as an instructor, she was sent back into space at her request, to serve as Chief Tactical Officer aboard the USS Thunderchild, an Akira class cruiser tasked to surveil the Romulan border. She would serve there for several years to come.

After the sudden resignation of the ship’s XO, Emma stepped up to the plate as a temporary replacement, pending Starfleet Command’s choice. Eight months later, she was Promoted to Commander and transferred back to her original branch, to officially become the Thunderchild’s First Officer. A position she would hold for four years, before being offered her own command aboard the USS Mirage.

Taking command of her first ship was a dream come true. Having served aboard a Steamrunner before, she felt right at home. While the first few months were a little bumpy as she adjusted to her new capacity as Captain and got to know her crew, she was the most content she’d ever been. Now four years in, she yet has found anything to complain about. Her only odd thought going back to that cadet from many years ago.
Medical History Having sustained a few injuries along the years, all have healed properly under Starfleet medical care. Healthy and fit, she follows a high energy regimen, including various sports and healthy food.
