| Personal History | Nizan was born in 2362 on Bajor to Rydit Romec and Nyza, the only child of the couple. His first seven years were spent on occupied Bajor, and it was during this time that he got the scars that haunt him. When he was 4, him and his mother were walking home just before sunset when a Cardassian explosive detonated, killing his mother and leaving Nizan with numerous injuries. Over the next year, he would slowly recover, but not without permanent damage. The explosion being so close to him left him with 35% hearing loss in his left ear, and burn scars on the right side of his chest. He was otherwise just fine, but this was when his dislike of Cardassians began, and when he began wanting to travel the stars. Five years later he was almost injured by a Cardassian explosive that had not been removed or deactivated. He began to recruit his friends to help him mark on local maps the location of active explosive devices, in hopes of protecting others from injury or worse. |

| Starfleet History | At 18 he joined Starfleet, and took the test for the academy three times before finally getting an acceptable score. At the academy he excelled, surprisingly, in academics when he was carrying a full course load. He was on a Bajoran Springball team his final year of the academy, and the team went to the quarter-finals but lost. After graduating from the academy, he returned to take advanced courses in investigation and other recommended high level security courses. He also joined the academy's debate team, but his course work kept him busy, and he had to drop the team after that fifth year. Following the additional 4 years he spent on learning, he was assigned to Starbase 34 close to the neutral zone. After an incident with repeated intrusions by Starbase personnel into the neutral zone, threatening to not only violate the treaty, but get everyone killed in the process, Nizan was assigned to a special security detail to determine the suspects, detain, and hold them until a court-martial could be conducted. He remained on Starbase 34 until he requested a transfer. After almost 3 months with no response, he found out he was being transferred to the Galileo. |

| Medical History | At the age of 4, Nizan suffered burns to right side of his chest and 35% hearing loss in his left ear that was the result of an accident involving a Cardassian explosive device. He suffered several minor scrapes and cuts over the next several years, from various falls from trees. At the age of 7, shortly after the end of the occupation, he fell from a tree and fractured his left arm. However, it was repaired and there was no lasting permanent harm. |
