As an Elaysian, Annikafiore has a v-shaped cranial ridge at her mid-forehead, and another where her eyebrows would be if she were Human.

Family

Personality & Traits

General Overview Annikafiore tends to come across as overbearing and abrasive when she first gets to know someone new. She is forthright, and will rarely censor the words she chooses. Once a relationship is established and the uncertainty ends, Annikafiore will still come across as brash, but she will also demonstrate the loyalty of one’s oldest friend. Much of the motivation that drives Annikafiore’s temperament comes from her desire to be thought of as unique. Growing up, her parents always told her how special she was, how limitless her opportunities were. Inside, Annikafiore felt as if she were, secretly, terribly dull. Boring is a dirty word to Annikafiore, and she fears she won’t be liked if her boring nature were ever discovered. Because Annikafiore wants to be liked, Annikafiore is never boring.

Despite this, Annikafiore can come across as meek when she’s on duty — especially in the presence of senior officers. While many would call her behaviour meek, she would call it professional. To keep herself interested without a brassy mouth, Annikafiore comes up with new affectations every week — be it drumming on her console, recording her duty logs in iambic pentameter, affecting new accents or reporting to duty wearing glasses.
Strengths Although she was raised by parents who were cool and reserved, Anniakfiore was always encouraged to behave according to her own choosing. Annikafiore is genuine, and authentically herself. (Except when she’s not.) A highly sensual person, she embraces her emotions, wherever they take her. She yells without meaning it and flirts with people she despises. After witnessing her swiftly-changing temperaments, some are surprised to discover that Annikafiore is entirely competent and serious about her work.

Annikafiore has an orderly and technical mind. She’s one of those people who can remember an entire paragraph from a book she read two years ago. Annikafiore took to computer operations from a young age, and manipulating and designing Starfleet’s LCARS comes naturally to her. She can excel without really trying.

While Annikafiore can waffle, and be uncertain of what she wants, she is determined once her mind is made up. She doesn’t give up. This was most blatantly demonstrated in the physical adversity she faced in leading the low-gravity of her home world, and the gruelling training she underwent to survive within the environmental norms of the Federation. She had to work hard — mentally, physically and emotionally — to fight her way into Starfleet. She’s not about to take it easy now, now that she’s in.
Weaknesses Annikafiore’s orderly, technical mind has left her with some sizeable blind spots when it comes to medical or tactical disciplines. The humanoid body is a slushy soppy mess to her, and she struggles to predict thoughts of attack or violence.

In fact, Annikafiore doesn’t enjoy conflict. She avoids it. At times, this can lead her to behaving in a two-faced manner. When she’s in the moment, talking bout a colleague or a boss, she will talk big about their many, myriad failings. But when it comes time to talk to that same person, face-to-face, she will remain polite —as polite as society requires, and no further— without making mention of her grievances. At times in her life, in moments of extreme stress or troubling family dynamics, Annikafiore has been prone to compulsive lying.
Ambitions To have a computer access and retrieval system named after her. …Shy of that, she would be happy enough to die in service to the Federation.
Hobbies & Interests LCARS interface philosophy, judo, fencing, Mok’bara, parises squares, gambling in foreign currency, amateur botany, the Elaysian equivalent to a cello, and serial dating. She wants to learn rugby.
Vernacular Annikafiore has never outgrown the guttural, yodeller accent from her geographical region of Elaysia.
Orientation Bisexual
Language(s) Spoken Federation Standard

Personal History Annikafiore Szerda applied to Starfleet out of a sense of duty. Her parents were competitive dancers, and Annikafiore was born with all the grace of a hippopotamus. Her parents taught her to dance from a young age, and strove to expose her to their love without forcing it upon her. Annikafiore loved her parents, and loved to watch them dance. Even if she had missed their performances while she attended school, Annikafiore would watch them remotely, or historically, on video. Although Annikafiore learned to dance, she never learned to love it for herself. Eventually, Annikafiore’s parents accepted that dance was a chore to Annikafiore, and they encouraged her to follow other passions: music or writing, perhaps. Annikafiore excelled in school, exceeded the expectations set out for her, but she didn’t thrive in any one thing. She enjoyed artistic expression, but it was a hobby for her. It was an outlet to distract her from her studies. It was never her passion.

Some say Annikafiore joined Starfleet because she wanted to defend her parents’ right and freedom to spend their days devoted to the arts. It was important to her. Growing up in the shadow of Dominion and Borg attacks, Annikafiore attributed that freedom to Starfleet. She had a more than a little hero worship going on for Starfleet Officers. Some say Annikafiore joined starfleet because she wanted to serve the Federation.

Others are less kind. There are others who say Annikafiore’s Starfleet career came about because of her desire to bed soulful explorers and muscle-toned soldiers, and her inability to choose between the two.

When Annikafiore wasn’t initially accepted to Starfleet Academy on her first and second try, Annikafiore went to university on Mars. Ostensibly, she went to Mars to study starship engineering on a campus where she could watch it happening before her eyes. More importantly, she went to Mars to acclimatize herself to Federation standard environments. She physically trained her body just by being there, and later through extensive cardiovascular training, weight training, and studying of martial arts. In her first year, Annikafiore was largely confined to an anti-grav chair that provided her mobility. As she continued her strength-training, she attained greater personal mobility through exoframe technology she wore over her clothes.
Starfleet History The duty logs of USS Jupiter’s Chief Operations Officer include several notations relating to the excellence and drive demonstrated by Ensign Szerda. As a junior operations officer, Szerda was rotated through a variety of starship operations services. In her service as a Transporter Operator, Szerda executed an emergency transport at warp speed to rescue an away team from within a dying cosmozoan. In her service to the cargo bays, her inventory records and statistics were near-perfect. She never lost a single stem-bolt. In her bridge duty, she was awarded commendations that she wears on her dress uniform to this day. Even more important to Szerda was that her opinion was respected by the Captain and Executive Officer. Except… except for that one time.

One time, the USS Jupiter was in battle with an unidentified starship. Late into the battle, Szerda diverted phaser power to the defensive systems, without being ordered to do so. She also didn’t announce her drastic action to the senior staff. Despite the peaceful end that was eventually achieved, many officers were injured when the ship was taking offensive maneuvers without the phaser power to back them up.

Even this failure wasn’t what Szerda was remembered for aboard the Jupiter. Szerda was remembered by her colleagues for being a gossip. One rumour in particular about a pretty young Tactical officer, authored by Szerda, snowballed out of control, and led to said Tactical officer experiencing a setback in her psychological recovery from a trauma.

When Szerda transferred to USS Nautilus, she did so with a sense of relief at the clean slate it brought her. It was a chance to start anew. Although Szerda made no effort to hide her idiosyncrasies in her personal time, she attended her duty with a greater sense of reserve and decorum. When the USS Nautilus underwent a turnover of its senior staff, Ensign Szerda was honoured to be given the opportunity to serve as its Chief Operations Officer for its participation in Starfleet’s classified NIMBUS exercise.
Medical History Annikafiore Szerda is in peak physical condition for her age and species, but only through determined effort. Furthermore, she has above-average strength and muscle tone, due to a specialized diet and exercise regimen in order to function in the environmental conditions —the gravitational ones in particular— found on most Starfleet facilities. Being born on a low-gravity planet, Szerda wears an anti-gravity exoframe on her shoulders, arms and legs at all times. While serving within Starlet facilities, the exoframe allows Szerda a close approximation of her natural range of motion. While venturing outside the confines of a starship’s EPS grid, the exoframe can be somewhat less reliable on battery power.
